Hey there, I need to know how much adderall I can take without risking a heart attack or something. I'm trying to write a paper and today at 10 AM I swallowed 2 10 mg instant release, and since then have snorted 40 mg crushed extended release over the last 4 hours. But...I don't feel adderall'd anymore and I really need to focus and work fast. Is it safe to take more? All the info I can find online says 60 mg is the max dosage per day (I'm not prescribed it and I don't have ADD). My heart can be badly affected by stimulants (in fact I had temporary heart problems resulting from too much Ritalin use) but my pulse is fine right now, not fast, and I really need to know if taking more is safe. I'm a 110 lb female (5'4") so I'm small but I think I've built up a tolerance. Anyway, please help me and tell me, for example, how much you have taken and been ok and what you think about my situation. Thanks!!

i doubt anyone on here can tell you with any certainty what is or isn't unsafe in your particular case. if you have had heart problems from stimulants before, i say don't push it.

as far as the 60 mg thing, i don't think that has to do with heart problems necessarily but rather potential neurotoxicity of amphetamines in higher doses; that said, i know people who are legitimately prescribed more than 60 mg daily by their treating physicians. also, i know plenty of people who have taken more than 60 mg of adderall in 24 hours with no problems, myself included. if you are not prescribed adderall though, don't take it regularly, and have taken 40 mg in the last few hours, i don't think taking more would be much more beneficial to you.

Totally agree with stray's idea. Since previous conditions exist that resulted from just this type of activity, I would be extremely careful. Even if other people have been able to take larger amounts and been okay, your body has already told you this could be an issue.

Good luck and God speed with your paper.

^dont snort any kind of adderall... ITs stupid. . much stronger if you just take it on an empty stomach.

since you had heart problems Id say be careful. But 20mg more won't kill ya

But 20mg more won't kill ya

haha I gotta say, that was the answer I was looking for. I hope you're right about that...my paper writing would be badly disrupted if I had to be rushed to the hospital.

I just swallowed one more 10 mg instant release.

Boulder257: I agree, but I feel like if I had some estimate of what other people had taken and been fine, I would at least be able to talk myself out of the "oh shit I'm going to die" anxiety that tends to arise. SO if anyone would like to share how much they've taken in a 24 hour period I would like to know that information.

Thanks very much for your help.

^im afraid to give that kinda information. cause certainly the amounts I've taken would probably kill a lil' petite girl like yourself ;)

Buuuutt.. I am 190lbs 6' tall and i've been on adderall since I was 11. I've taken 200mgs in a 24 hr period a couple times. Bad idea. And I was mixing benzo's like klonopin in with it.. which you probably don't have. So yeah with a wicked high tolerance and access to downers... 200mgs.

But these days 80mgs tends to be my highest dose. near daily usage.

ha, katiankitten, i understand how it is nice to get the answer you're looking for, but please let me reiterate that noone over the internet is qualified to make these kinds of judgments for you. i would definitely be a little more wary of accepting this kind of advice as a greenlight in the future, especially when all the other posters' advice runs contrary.

keeping that in mind, now that you have already taken another 10, i don't expect you to die from it or anything. however, you did say that you have had heart problems in the past specifically related to abusing ritalin; this distinguishes your case from the ordinary, so regardless of what other people have been able to take, i believe you should be more careful based on your subjective negative history and experiences. don't work yourself up into some sort of "i'm going to die" mentality; amphetamines can very much increase anxiety issues, and you probably are not in immediate danger. i'm not trying to alarm you or anything like that--i promise--do please be careful in the future though

Kantia, I didn't mean to be less than helpful, I would just feel terrible if I told someone, "you should be okay." And, then several days later they post about the severe health problems they encountered. Or, even worse, I read about their death in the paper. Since this is a harm reduction site, I offered the advice that I did. Please know my answer was meant with the best intention and truly out of care for you and your health.

God Bless.
