Adderall as a study aid

As per my standard disclaimer, I have already searched the forums and could not find an answer related to my question, so I'll post it here.
I have a 20mg Adderall (AD 20 is what is says on the pill) that I plan to use to study for a major test I have coming up. My plan is to pop the pill and find a quiet place to study for 4-5 hours. When I want to go to sleep 10 hours from when I eat the pill, is a 10mg Ambien going to let me fall asleep? I'm trying to time this so that I still have enough time for sleep since the test will be the day after I cram like hell (ie it's tommorow).
Normally, I wouldn't be so anal retentive about OTC drug use, but this is my first meth-related experience plus I don't want to fuck up and end up getting a lower grade than I would have if I studyed sober. Advice? Suggestions?
Thanks

PS - Could someone suggest a good adderall dosage for someone with little/no tolerance just looking to study once every few months?

Individual sensitivy may vary, it's kind of a question you'll have to figure out on your own. Also, if you're only using it for studying, I'd recommend going against the grain and using just half the pill. There's little point in copping a buzz when you need to concentrate on work, despite what all the ritalin snorting high school kids may claim.

whenever i choose to do so, i never use addarall "just to study", but instead use it to study when doing so necessitates me staying up for extended periods of time......to put it another way, whenever i eat addarall, i eat it to stay up lots AND study, not JUST to study, as i feel that it is quite useless as simply a study aid....okay, just my 0.02 $

i don't think u can compare adderall to GOOD meth.
what time is the test? if it is in the morning and you are going to study, you might be better off just staying up the whole night.
I don't know if there are any interactions with ambien and adderall, but i wouldnt do it. i just don't like the idea of taking one thing to wake up and another to go to sleep, especially when the effects of the stimulant may still be felt.
i like my tweaks, even on the comedown.

I'm not sure you would need to take any sleep med after 10 hours? I think adderal, unless its a really high dose..would keep you up for over 10 hours. At least in my experience anyway.. I dont have a problem falling asleep after like 5-6 hours. 20mg isn't "that" high of a dose, even with no tolerance, correct me if i'm wrong anyone?

you won't even need the ambien. you'll be able to fall asleep just fine after much less than ten hours. that's true from my experience at least.

When I first started using adderal, i alwways marked th 10 hr point to when i could fall asleep.. it would always be like 4 in mornig before i could sleep, and i would take it at six.. you should be fine though.. now i can sleep on the shit
I also find that adderal at 10 mg gives me alot of motivation to study... the higher i go above that the more scattered my thought come though.. Just be finished by the comdown cuz you will feel lazy and apathetic.

Rule of thumb for me
10mg = 6 hours
20mg = 12 hours until you can sleep
Thats with non regular use and little tolerance. Once your tolerance catches up you will be able to fall asleep faster.

Unless you have more Adderall for the actuall test, why not avoid the Ambien? While it doesn't have the 'memory clearance' as you get from, say, Klonopin, it's similar, and even with a good 8 hours of undisturbed sleep, you may wake up not remembering everything you took in the night prior ... my plan:
Take the adderall if you need it, cram for many hours then fall asleep on your own .. if you have NO tollerance why not take half that pill to study then the other half the morning of the test... I find I do better if I have the amphetamines DURRING the test..

Ok, first of all you want to make sure you get some sleep. Sleep is VERY important in learning/memory. don't pull an all-nighter.
some people, with no tolerance to adderall, can take as little as 5-10mgs and have troubles sleeping at night even if they took it in the morning. It's too late now, but you probably shouldn't have taken the whole 20mgs. Now you have a choice: Do you try to fall asleep on your own? Or do you use the Ambien? If you try to sleep on your own (and can't) and then try to make up for it by taking the Ambien too late, you could be fucked the next day worse than if you had only gotten an hour or so of sleep. I don't know what to tell you except take the ambien early at night and get to bed early, thereby making sure you get tons of GOOD sleep....
unless you aren't done w/ your studying yet, in which case, if you don't feel wired, try to sleep...
drug-free sleep is always best.

I agree...you want to be on the same level during the test that you were on while studying. I find a little (but not too much!) of an amphetamine will really boost my test-taking.

just an update so far, I took all 20mg (I was under the impression you can't break it half because of the time realease, is this true?) and spent about 4-5 hours studying. I took the Adderall at 5pm and I'm going to take the ambien at midnight, so hopefully I can get in 8-10 hours of sleep.
I'll let everyone know how i fare on the test -- maybe someone else can use this or a similar combo for a study aid in the future.
