Adderall and my horrible moods came back.

So last semester I was diagnosed with ADHD/ADD me and the doctor prescribed me 10 mg of Adderall twice a day I used to wake up at 12 and the dosage seem fine for me I had issues with my moods which I am prescribed Citaolprom for that and that seemed to help me out perfectly now I have to wake up at eight in the morning and I am prescribed 15 mg twice a day and my moods came back I am very moody and I feel all over the place I don't feel as well as I did last semester on Adderall what's going on why am I feeling completely different and all over the place again and my moods are horrible again. Please help.

Amphetamines are powerful drugs. They would make me moody, as well as my brother. Some people just cannot tolerate them even though they have ADD/ADHD. We used to be able to tolerate the amphetamine based meds at first, but then they all reared their ugly heads on us in the end and made us eogtistical assholes.

Have you talked to your doctor about an alternative medicine that is not amphetamine based?

Also- are you on the Celexa BECAUSE of the side effects from the Adderall, or were you on it first to begin with?

I'm asking this because it's pretty foul to prescribed one medicine to offset to effects of another- especially a psychoactive one (even though this is common practice in American medicine).

No I was on celexa over a year before I started Adderall I legit felt perfect . I just don't get it because when I first started Adderall I felt great moods were great . Now it's iffy , and what are some names of alternative medicines you mentioned. ?

That's exactly what happened to us- one day the medicine just turned ugly and had awful moody side effects. I don't think it's really that uncommon.

Some alternatives would be Intuniv, Strattera, and Kapvay-which are all non-stimulant based ADD/ADHD meds.

Nuvigil and Modafinil are also two routes you could try that some people say has helped their ADD/ADHD symptoms- but neither have been indicated for ADD/ADHD treatment by the FDA.

^^yep, same thing happened to me, at the beginning adderal helped me feel energetic and motivated, more focused but soon after the extreme crashes come into effect..not only that but the anxiety and irritability completely ruined the good effects...my mood the next day after taking adderal would always be low as well and id be sluggish..i would never take it again as id be right back into no mans land within a week even with infrequent dosing..
