Adderall and gastritis/ulcer pain

I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any input on this. I'm prescribed Adderall ER. I also have some sort of abdominal condition- I suspect it's a peptic ulcer based on the symptoms and the fact that in hindsight I was taking way too much ibuprofen for unrelated pain; since prescription Motrin is 800 mg I figured I could get away with taking that dosage up to a few times a day over an extended period of time. I'm aware of the stupidity involved in thinking that. I make no excuses for sometimes being an idiot :\

Anyway, I haven't gotten in to see a GI doc yet though I did have it checked out at the ER once when I was there for asthma and they gave me a prescription for a PPI and told me to see a GI doc.

I pretty much always have some abdominal pain but I have some days where the pain isn't too bad- I'm pretty used to it. The past few days it's been pretty unbearable. Yesterday was the worst I've had yet and I finally started a course of PPIs. I also take cimetidine for it and acetaminophen occasionally as kind of a Hail Mary pass. They used to help but not so much anymore.

Today I woke up and the pain was about as bad as yesterday. I took the cimetidine and predictably it didn't help. Then I took my adderall for the first time in several days- I haven't been taking it because I worry about the effect it has on my mood. Within an hour the pain was completely gone. I know that amphetamines are said to have pain relieving properties but considering how low the dose is, that I've never felt much pain relief with other kinds of pain from it and that my focus isn't just off the pain- even when I focus on it, the pain just isn't there- I don't think it's just some sort of general analgesic effect.

I'm led to think that either for some reason Adderall is specifically treating this pain or that the PPI is starting to help, though it's been less than 24 hours. Can anyone suggest a reason that amphetamines would provide relief specifically for pain associated with peptic ulcer/gastritis?

yeah something like omeprazole would be a good idea. PPIs take a while to really kick in and work to maximum effect, i'd say it's just starting to help. I take omeprazole and when you first start, it takes at least 4 hours to kick in and for optimum effect to take place it takes several days.

that would be my guess as to what's going on, i can't see how amphetamines would provide any relief to the gastrointestinal system as it usually sends mine into hyper drive, maybe that helps, i don't know. Ibuprofen will definitely cause stomach ulcers, so being on a PPI is necessary anyway, i'm not sure what else is used to treat stomach ulcers or other related issues though.
