adderall and dexedrine advice for a newbie with inattentive ADD

I just re-read what I wrote and just want to say that I am in no way wanting you to have to up your dose, maybe you will be the case that gets what they need off 10mgs. I am just trying to let you know that you will develop a tolerance and that is normal, and if you feel that it is working very well for you dont be afraid to tell your doctor.....Its just tolerance and that is NORMAL!

Look guys, either you're naive, or you're ignorant, but in todays society, PLENTY of people use "speed" to get by. As in, everyday work, studying for major exams, partying, etc.

I disagree with the comment, "that if you're planning on using speed, law school will shit all over you." If you use it responsibly, and don't get up to an obscene amount, you will be just fine. Try and stay consistent with your dosage, and take breaks whenever you can.

Valium, while I respect your advice usually, I disagree here. I don't think it's wise for the OP to mix both Ritalin and Dex/Adderall. I think this is too harsh on the body, and is just asking for an addiction.

I agree with liquidice, dont be surprised when 5mg no longer does shit for you. that is a really low dose, when I got my first script for my ADHD it was 10mg adderall 3x daily. don't be surprised if you have to move up from 5 to 10mg rather quickly, and if you have dexedrine already I'd stick with that its better for studying.

A question: From looking at old posts, I found numerous claims that taking antacids/tums/rolaids will help with keeping the drug from being excreted from my body longer -- and thus increase the amps bioavailability. I want to try this but I am worried that since tums/rolaids are mainly made of calcium carbonate, the antacids will increase my tolerance to the medication. What do you guys think? (I'm trying to find an alternative for baking soda since its a hassle)

I think that the antacids thing works somewhat. if you are anything like me it won't increase your tolerance because after doing this a few times i get sick of eating fucking tums and stop doing it for a while lol.

I'd try buproprion and strattera first, Buproprion works for some people with ADHD, strattera, doesn't work at all. If you fail to respond to both of these non addictive treatments for attention deficit, i'd suggest dexedrine, it's alot more pleasent, smoother, and easier to handle then Adderal. Dexedrine actually has powerfull anti-anxiety effects in me. I take 60 milligrams a day of it for 3 different things, that's a really, really high dose though. I honestly wish I responded to a lower dose then that, everybody is different.

2) Don't fuck with dexedrine... it's prescription METHAMPHETAMINE. You will withdrawl worse than adderall. Take it if you want, but i would reccomend regular adderall.

3) Dude... idk how the fuck you get dexedrine when you're that light... one pills of that will fuck you up for really long time... like you won't even sleep.

I'd recomend one 5mg adderall pill

5) if you don't want to snort or I.V. or eat it, you could plug it (shove it up your ass lol) but that's mad sketchy IMO

The above poster is incorrect about most everything he stated, do not listen to him. Dexedrine is D-amphetamine a much smoother, less tolerance promoting, and less physically stressful isomer of amphetamine which in adderall preparations contains both D and L isomers.

Also he got dex because his doctor was not a total fuckwit, dex should be prescribed before adderall in all instances because it is more effective and safer but phobias about abuse lead most doctors to use it only as a last resort.

You've confused Dexedrine with Desoxyn. Desoxyn is probably the hardest prescription substance to actually get a prescription for in the United States. Most doctors have never heard of it, and those who have usually won't prescribe it because all they know is "it's meth". Too bad, too, as it's supposedly the best stimulant out there for a lot of ADD/ADHD sufferers.

Demitriden, have you ever considered a different approach to your problem than amps? A good nootropic supplementation plan may do more wonders for your ability to focus than even high doses of stimulants. It seems you're delightfully free of a lot of the other effects that ADD can have on your affect.

I do think that you were right for skipping Ritalin, though.

That's false, it's Dextroamphetamine, it's not methylamphetamine. It's an isomer of racemic amphetamine. It has worse withdrawals the adderal though, because it's simply a more euphoric form of speed then adderal is.

I know its been a year since your post but was wondering whether you can tell me what your experience has been, especially with the 2.5g of adderall. I am in med school at the moment and feel as though i really need a little 'help' anyway i dont want to bore you with my student issues but was really hoping you could answer two questions for me:

1) I am in europe and can only get hold of only one of the three drugs mentioned, please tell me which you'd recommend (only for concentrating purposes...not for euphoria etc). and what minimum dose was most helpfull (I plan to take it only for 7 days before my exams)

2)What other supplements, diet helped while you were on the drug.

btw i am female 23, 5'8 and 106 pounds.

Yes, I have no experience with ritalin, but I would never willingly take it. The right dose of racemic amphetamine, or dextro-amphetamine, are the best medicine I can think of for ADHD.

2) With the 5mg adder IR and 5mg dexie IR, I am planning to NOT mix it or use it as a combo. I was hoping to either completely use one then move onto the other. Do you think that's a good idea? I was thinking about using the less effective one first so that when I make the switch it won't feel like I downgraded my medication. Should I take the dexie or adderall first? I want to save the better drug for later. OR do you recommend me taking them on alternate days of each other?

You should try both, so that you find out which one works better for you, or if there are days where Adderall work better than Dexedrine, and/or vice versa.

I would try the Adderall first, because for some people, the racemic 75/25 mix of the d/l isomers is ideal. For other people, the L isomer is not a great addition in their medicine.

3) I am 5"3 105lbs, I was wondering how many mgs should I take of adder or dexie a day?

You should take anywhere from 5 to 10 mg of Adderall or Dexedrine, and if needed, take up to 20mg or 30mg a day of Adderall. The equivalent of Dexedrine is a bit lower as it is more potent than Adderall.

I am 6'0" and 160 lbs, and 20mg of Adderall is the most I need a day. 10mg is also a nice dose for other days, some days I don't need the whole 20mg.

4) I am studying for the LSAT which is a very difficult standardized test to get into law school, hoping to have adder or dexie to help me during the test-date as I practice the exam while on the drug. Since using the drugs to help me study is a big reason of why I wanted to get my inattentiveness treated I wanted to ask you guys -- Which is better to use for intense focus and concentration to hit the books + test taking.

To be honest, it's better not to rely on amphetamine for studying. Personally, I study better without it. I just have a hard time being motivated to study without amphetamine, so either way, I kind of have to make due.

If you actually need amphetamine for ADHD, take as needed/as directed. Don't go overboard with it, don't take it to feel high. If you don't need it for ADHD, I would avoid taking it.

5) What is the best way to get the most effective usage out of the drug? I definitely do not want to try snorting or IV.. any other recommendation besides oral swallowing?

Take it orally. If it's Adderall XR, I would get Adderall IR instead, or crush the beads in the capsule (if you don't like taking Adderall XR orally as is).
