Adderal instead of Ritalin

My friend who legitimately has ADD wants to get adderal instead of ritalin. Is there anything he could say to the doc that would improve his chances of acquiring said goods? Thank you.
 
But he wants adderal because its a more enjoyable drug. What wouold convicnce his doctor to switch
 
What would convince him to switch? He should just tell the doctor he heard or has a friend that said adderall was more effective for them, or that he was researching ADD drugs and wanted to inquire about Adderall/possibly try it. I have ADD and have used this method of trying out different drugs effectively.
On a side note to those who responded: you can't just say, "If he has ADD ritalin should work", because first of all he never said it didn't work for his friend. People need to find what works best for them. Adderall and ritalin are completely different stimulants, and their level of effectiveness is different for everyone. Some find ritalin works better, some Adderall, some otherwise. Hell Wellbutrin works for some. I personally prefer dexadrine, and yes I obtain it legitimately. They don't usually prescribe that as frequently, but Adderall should be no biggie, just have him tell the doctor something to the effect that he thinks it may be more helpful and beneficial.

I have ADD and take Adderall XR...it is MUCH more effective and enjoyable then Ritalin (which I tried with very little ADD relief and MANY "jitters")...Ritalin can be unpleasant...esp in high doses (which it took for me to see any ADD improvement).

Adderall XR is extended release...whereas I know of no other drug tused to treat ADD that is extended release...there's a good reason. It helps one avoid the "peaks and valleys" that come with taking instant release tabs. Be warned: it's a new drug and is not yet available in generic form...it's expensive (like $2.50 per 20 mg cap at the pharmacy).
 
Say that you simply would like to see if the adderall works better or it's side effects aren't as pronounced when compared to ritalin.

I complained a little bit that at the end of the day I was "edgy" and "anti-social" (of course I didn't mention I take more than a daily dose daily) and she said "well I've got something new" and changed me to Focalin. And honestly the side effects DID reside compared to ritalin.

Don't make it seem like you're trying to get high, say you're trying to see if one or the other is more effective. They might even start you on a lower dose of Adderall to begin with, but you can always say after 1 month "Hey, it's just not working like the ritalin did. But yes the side-effects are almost totaly gone!".

Concerta, Ritalin SR, Dexadrine Spansules, Wellbutrin SR, to name a few. Extended release ADD/ADHD medication is not a new concept. Ritalin SR and Dex Spansules have been on the market for quite some time, I believe.
