I've noted that the American Chemical Society has taken legal action against Sci Hub so there are a whole bunch of great-looking articles I cannot read in full an am unable and unwilling to pay $48 for 48 hours of access. I would know in 90 seconds if the paper is of use to me.

Does anyone know of a tool and/or methodology of obtaining ACS articles?

One in particular could make a previous untenable methodology facile ney useful - if so, you know I will share.

I found the papers using google scholar. But GS doesn't put you behind paywalls... unless it's a feature I'm managed to fail to notice.

BTW it was just a paper on the Polonovski reaction at scale. I thought it might be interesting because it can be applied to the non-classical Polonovski reaction which is a more general N-dealkylation methodology.

It isn't facile to use for anything but small-scale research but, as an example, one could N-dealkylate nalmefene and use that. It's already been applied to butorphanol and I posted a link to the paper. But while 60% yield is fine for bench-scale as preparative chromatography will yield the desired product but it has no value for other things.

I've always wondered what would happen if, say, naloxone was converted to it's quaternaty salt with, say, 2-phenylethyl bromide. What would N-dequaternization yield? Again, of interest but not of value (as far as I know).

We found that N-allyl derivatives of primary or secondary amines such as N,N-diallylbenzylamine (11), N- allylbenzhydrylamine (21), or N-allyldibenzylamine (3) were deallylated in 1-3 h by heating them (30 "C) in dichlo- romethane in the presence of NDMBA (7).

Again, sort of interesting if one has need of noroxymorphone for some reason.
