Acid Question?

I had my first trip when I was about 16 and back then I was told if you had more than 2 a year you would fry your brain, I'm 23 now.
To me when we trip it's more of a brain exercize.
I have met people who drop huge amounts (eg I talked to a bloke who had had 15 tabs that night and was drinking a bottle of vodka like it was water) The next day he was back to normal.
Im not wanting to do anything like that but does regular acid intake cause problems or is it like most drugs and it just depends if you can (handle) it or not?(don't think handle is the right word here but hopefully you get the idea)8o

the key with acid, as with any drug, is in moderation.

i know people that won't trip more than once every 6 months, some that trip every couple of months, some that have tripped every week for a period of 6 months.

if you abuse acid like the guy you described above, no doubt there could be some permanent damage done. his personality and view of reality may be different to before he went on an acid binge, not to mension his short term memory! 8(

i only take acid every few months and i have a great time every time. i don't feel any different now than when i did before i started taking acid, if i do its too small to notice.

^^ Well put.

Taking LSD more than once every six months will not fry your brain.

In terms of damage to your body, LSD is relatively harmless. The only guy to ever overdose IV'd 320mg. Your average blotter has 50-300ug (micro grams) on it, and you're taking it orally... So there's really very little to worry about in terms of physical damage.

Psychological damage is rare, but it does happen. There's nothing worse than idiots who tell you about their 'uncles friend who took acid and never came out of it, he's still in a mental hospital today!' The risks are different. Schizophrenics should avoid LSD like the plague, and there is also a risk of ongoing visual disturbances after the LSD has worn off... But they usually pass within days/weeks.

You could take LSD more often than every 6 months with no added side effects to what you're experiencing now. I'm sure there are people out there who take it every week or two, but I know that I am not mentally capable of holding up to such frequent psychological assaults.

Test the water. If you want to do it more regularly, try taking it 3 months apart. If that's fine, try 6 weeks. Etc.

:)

As a sidenote, you wouldn't happen to have the name of the guy who OD'd on LSD, or perhaps a link to some info? I've always been intregued by people who take insane doses of LSD, kind of a hobby.

I once heard an interview with a guy who accidentally took a big swig from a bottle of practically pure liquid acid, took him years to get his life together but he had some interesting insights (though he did tend to ramble a bit).

I've got a mate who reckons he took about 100 trips in a two year period. Whether this is true or not I know that he took a shit load of drugs and smoked dope like a fiend. I was always amazed that he kept it together and never cracked. On the other hand another mate went from no drugs to a 6 month once a week habit and ended up skitzing out. I guess it really depends on the person. It's important to be honest with yourself, if someone feels they are losing it even a little, it's better to take a break than to keep going at it.

Thats an average of 1 a week, quite easily conceivable. When I was younger (ie when I could get cheap acid) I pulled off at least that.

there are people on bluelight who have taken up to 300 trips in a year. they might want to remain nameless, but i can assure you it's possible, with relatively no permanent effects.

if your mentally healthy and feel comfortable doing it, it's my opinion you could spend as long as you wanted constantly eating acid and once it wore off, youd have no noticable long term issues (apart from perhaps the pending court cases from those times you hijacked hot air balloons and went swimming at the aquarium).

phew, after a good trip I can't even contemplate doing another for a month or so, I just find the experience so mentally overwhelming. I wonder how these guys who do 300 a year keep it together...

its not the amount of tabs its the strength of the tabs. last time i had acid i had four tabs, two at the start and the others later. usually the strength of one tab doesnt really get me where i want to go so more is needed. if tabs were stronger im sure people wouldnt be having 300 :)
