Having an acid night shortly (to celebrate the end of exams and all) and I was just looking for recommendations as to what would make it a real cool evening (visuals etc). I'm hiring a projector so we've got the visuals covered but if you've got any good ideas feel free

thats a damn good idea.
I assume you've thought of music no doubt.
I'd also recommend some trip toys, soft toys, if you can get some really large paintings or pictures (of a trippy style) then hang them on the wall.
What could be really fun is having some surprises organised as well. I can't really think of anything, but trippers love surprises.

speaking of supprises....a friend came back to town to catch up and take acid. he was really keen but we told him we didnt have any...we then slipped some acid in some food and fed it to him without his knowledge. he was really pleased when he worked out that we really did have some.
a posibilty for a future acid night?

In response to that...only a very experianced tripper is likely to easily endure that. To begin having screaming fast thoughts and tripping out of nowhere can easily freak somone out, and panic is not a good mindset to have going into a trip.
I would have to not recommend that one. Unless you told them right after they ate it, I guess that would change things a little. If you wait to say anything untill effects are kicking in though, that has potential for being an absolutely fucking horrible experience.

taking some melatonin an hour or so before you want to be able to fall asleep really helps.. you also wake up feeling a hundred times better

Van Gogh.
Starry Night, in particular, if you can get it. Slightly cliche, but beautiful nonetheless. And you'll have no problem finding it in a local print store.
I got so obsessed with my favorite toy that my roomie bought me a hardcover journal with the painting on the cover just so that I could take it with me when needed (I have my copy hung on my wall).

I always love looking at artwork by H.R. Giger whenever on psychedelics. Biomechanoids hooked up to respirators tangled inside a tangled and complicated mess of alien machines is always a thrill.

Also, if you can get paintings of oceans, or a ship riding on the waves of an ocean, when triggered by LSD, manifests into a story-like ship ride into that wonderful "comfortably numb" mind state.
