Acid myth?

Nothing bad will happen to your mind. However if you take about 25 hits of Acid then you're going to fry your brain out.
One hit of acid will probably have as much effect on your brain as banging your head on a pole.
However poles don't give you new perspectives on life.

Dude 25 hits of acid just means you will be high for a long time... You may think yourself crazy by asking yourself stupid questions you can't answer but that's about it. I don't suggest eating that much as I have eaten 18 and got bored of being high. I try to do acid every week and it is the smallest dose of a drug that will get you high and you need to consume over 1,200 hits [I may be wrong so don't swear by my info] for anything bad to happen to you.
I looooove acid and trust me don't listen to any bad side effects although I have had one "acid?" flashback that lasted roughly 6 mins but I considered it a free trip and passed it off as a headache.
Please enjoy this drug as it is wonderful and I owe a lot to it.

your brain wont fry after one trip... but you may view the world a little differently after! A lot of people will try to scare you out of doing it (ex. someone once told me "dude if you do acid you'll have to pee sitting down the rest of your life!") Do what you wanna do man, lucy is amazing in the right mind set and can do a lot of good as well as bad things to your mind psychologicaly, but not so much physicaly =D

...how did they even try to back that up?

Maybe nate is short for Natalie ;)
Of course then they would be absolutely right, regardless if she'd ever taken acid or not.

If I see a commercial like:

THIS IS YOUR BRAIN ON ACID:

I'd be like:
What?? Absolutely delicious? Psychedelicious? Gimme!

LSD can change your perception of life just like a serious car crash could, its all an experience you'll keep with you. It doesn't "hurt" you, but it can change your views or make you realize things a little differently.

didn't read through the entire list of responses, but no one can tell you if LSD is going to permanently effect the way your brain operates for sure.

More than likely, you have nothing to worry about, BUT theres a small group of psychedelic users who DO experience permanent changes to visual processing ie. the permatrip scenario(HPPD.)

I'm living proof that it does happen and it could very well be extremely detrimental to your mental health. Its ultimately up to you whether or not to risk it. Some advice though, do the least amount as possible to achieve the desired effects.

acid defence!!!!!!!!

Ive heard a myth about acid that the first time you take it, it changes your brain or something like that. is this true? or does one calm down from it with no changes and feels fine. Ive always wanted to try acid ,but this myth gives me second thoughts.

I know that it may bring out pre-existing mental conditons ,but i smoke pot and do other shit like pills occasionly and did meth once and i came down fine with nothing coming out but its probably different with psychedelics right?

bullshit my friend. of all the misinformation, media hype and all the crazy hysteria that surrounds drug use, i think acid gets the harshest treatment and has the most undeserved reputation of them all.
physically, its harmless. the possibility of overdose is nonexistent unless you plan to swallow a small child full of acid.
acid doesnt change your brain, it changes your mind. there is a difference. on acid, everything you thought you knew about the world is questioned. you think differently. thiughts and ideas happen easier. and i actually have noticed a difference in the way i think, approach matters since first finding psychedelic drugs. the path forward in life seems clearer and more obvious. its certainly a strange drug. and yes, if you have a PRE-EXISTING mental illness then there is a very real possibilty that your gonna get in trouble. but, having said that anyone who takes such a drug with the knowledge that they have a mental illness deserves whatever they get. psychedelics are not to be messed with. screw around with them and theyl screw around with you. just gotta be responsible. aslong as your not already a basket case your home free! enjoy your first time dude!

I have HPPD and it does my fucking nut in

wait a second. lol i didnt take this into account. i do get this from time to time come to think of it. it isnt full blown visuals but sometimes i do notice more vibrant colours or patterns that seem to move or breathe ever so slightly, but, having said that, by the time ive realised its happening, it stops. most of the time id have to be keeping an eye out for these things as there so subtle i can barely notice them for what they really are.

Haha, reminds me of a Dead show back in 1987. There were t-shirts all over. Naturally some very clever. There was one particular t-shirt that stated:

This is your brain : and preceded to show a slimy uncooked egg.

Then the next part

This is your brain on acid: and preceded to show a beautiful omlet with toast and a steamy cup of coffee next to it. lol ;)

God I miss those crazy fun parking lot scenes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never heard of anyone noticing HPPD (Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder) after taking acid once. I had a few flashbacks back when I used to do acid every weekend for months, but if you do acid very sparingly, I dunno say an arbitrary amount being once a year, you shouldn't have to worry.

People that have experienced HPPD, did you notice after doing acid fairly frequently, or can it happen with just few spaced out uses?

I have had mild HPPD since I first dropped acid over a year ago. I've only done it four times in total. I get tracers and if I look hard at a surface it starts to breathe and undulate like it does when you're tripping. It's not really a problem though, I only really notice it when I look for it.

^^
Interesting, I've never known anyone personally to experience it from such little use. You're probably a minority, but I'm glad it isn't a problem for you though.
Anyone else experienced HPPD from little use?

OP: If you are mentally and emotionally stable I always recommend people try acid once and see for yourself. Just start low, work your way up, and you should be great.
Enjoy!
