Evening! I haven't posted anything yet so I thought I would share my first and only (so far) experience on acid last month.
Might I say in advance - I was very sick with the flu, and it was also maybe not the best time of the month... in hindsight maybe not the best time to give it a shot, but I view everything that happened as part of the all-round experience.
Was lucky enough to get a lift to our friends place near the beach (awesome). Having never taken acid or even seen how it was taken before I was (I've read this initial reaction on a couple of other threads) suprised to be given a teeny piece of paper with a strawberry on it... thinking alright, must not be all that strong then. Yeah. It didn't taste foul either, it went really quickly and I was slightly disappointed and worried I hadn't done it properly in order to get the full effect.
I took an antihistamine and started on the cough medicine (for the flu), apaprently was the stuff that is quite trippy if you have enough of it, the idea being that if I didn't feel up to having alot of acid I could at least dose up on that and still have fun... around half hour later started feeling incredibly giddy, happy, giggling at the smallest thing. Still coughing up a lung and feeling shyte, but it didn't really bother me, I was with a fantastic group of people
A short time later a couple of us walked over to the beach (it was pissing down rain)... the gravel on the road alone provided the first real trippy feeling, I couldn't keep my eyes away from what looked like multi-coloured worms on the road... wether they were actually worms or patches of oil I still don't know. I really didn't mind being saturated, I figured hell I'm already sick, at least I'll get a nice stint in hospital with pneumonia after this.
The beach... hectic, amazing, I've never seen anything like it in my life. The surf and the stormy skyline were connected. As cold and wet as it was down on the beach I was totally in love with it, totally comfortable and at home there. I was always sure of that, but it became certain this day.
Laughing my ass off at everything at this point (boyfriend poured me another dose of cough medicine, right to the top - the most hilarious thing I'd ever seen). I think at this point I was onto my 2nd or 3rd tab. The giggly feeling just kept coming. It did get exhausting towards the "end" of each tab because I couldn't control it, but I still couldn't get the smile off my face.
As it got darker outside I noticed alot of red and purple, and we were challenged to make the walls of the house change colour, I didn't suceed this time round. There were alot of snakes/dragons coming out of naked women, I couldn't feel any pain from them. I wanted to rest in my friends bed for a bit, I do remember getting really paranoid about the time, knowing that I had a job interview and an interstate flight to catch 2 days later... like, very paranoid, I think I burst into tears at one point about it. While having a lie down I became very good friends with a stuffed toy named Jeff (?). He was so soft! He wasn't talking to me, he was just making me feel heaps better. I felt like I needed a slight break fro the group, so this gave me the chance to close my eyes and let my vision/imagination wander. Everything was predominantly still a dark red and purple, I felt like they were angry colours to be seeing and put it down to having the flu AND having cramps, and that was it! It was like a light switched on and everything was bright again.
I will never listen to "Let It Be" in the same light again. That alone was a trip, almost like a holiday, especially for the rest of the group who had K at this point as well. Listening to Hendrix in that state was the acheivement of a lifetime to me - the epitome of what we were all doing and feeling was right there coming from the speakers. I wanted to be with my parents when they were my age and do this with them.
We tried to drive home that night, jumping in the car felt like jumping into a space shuttle cockpit. All the displays/controls popped out and the space of the front seat felt alot more compact but still incredibly exciting, I mean who doesn't want to be in a spaceship??... until a car went past us in the other direction. We turned around and a cat ran across the road. That was intense. Fuck hey... I've just realise how intense that was at the time. I couldn't believe it was a cat running across the road in front of the car, I didn't get why it would want to do that.
Lack of bedding mean snuggling up in a pile of big pillows under the staircase, probably the most comfortable spot I've slept in recently including my own bed. It meant so much to be able to settle and lie down and feel warm in the state I was in (I felt a bit hysterical at this point, thought what have I done, I'm not going to make the interview and I'm going to miss my flight and my much needed holiday!)
We drove home the next morning, very drowsy (from the benzos) but physically I felt so much better, not nearly as sick it was warm and sunny outside
How I got through the job interview (and was offered the job) and made my holiday flight I'll never know!
All in all, despite feeling like total crap the whole time I thoroughly enjoyed it... sort of looking forward to next time when I'm my normal healthy self!!
