Acetone tasting weed?

Lately Ive been getting some VERY nice weed, and It gets me reallly high, and thats great and all but....

It tastes like acetone, or nail polish removerr?

My friends agree with me, well some of the more experienced ones.

Does anyone know what this could be?

I doubt my weeds laced, but could it be to improve appearance?

Or is it just a dumb grower who doesnt wash his weed so it tastes like chemicals?

Is it just a strain of weed?

Honestly, acetone can be used as a solvent to add other chemicals to a specific substrate, in this case weed. The products like "k2" or "spice" have a synthetic cannabinoid added by a process similar to this. Possibly the weed is low strength, and the person is adding something like JWH-xxx, etc. Usually the acetone is evaporated quickly, so possibly he is using an acetone that has a denaturing agent in it. If this is the case, I would cease smoking immediately. You'll have to question your dealer and see if you can make any headway.

100% Acetone will evaporate *very* fucking quickly. You could pour a shot of it on your buds and it would be completely evaporated in less than an hour.

That said - almost all Acetone found in markets/stores contain a denaturing ingrediant which is extremely harmful to light and inhale. If you suspect this is the case.... go with what Basic has said - cease smoking that immediately.

It never dose hurt to ask though. At the very least you may be able to find out what acetone he used :P If he is selling bags of weed unsafely laced with denatured acetone, someone is going to have some nasty side effects soon.

just gong by what i know from growing years ago.
You can get that taste just because the person growing the stuff kept useing nutrients rite up till the weed was chopped down and it probably was cured quikly.
If you wanna remove bad tastes from weed just soak it in luke warm water over and over ussualy about 6 times ,untill the colour of the water becomes clear then dry yer weed and it is alot smoother.
it will probably also condence a bit ,no biggy yer still not looseing any crystals...

impossible for us to tell for sure unfortunately. If you think it's not laced, I'd smoke it. I've had plenty of strains that smell and taste how I imagine Mr.Clean Lemon would, but that doesn't mean it was dipped in Mr. Clean - it was just the strain.

I've smoked weed that had a rather chemical taste in the past as well, but I know it was just because of the grower selling the buds before they were properly cured, which I did myself.

If you think it could be laced or if you think your dealer is stupid enough to use denatured acetone, i wouldn't smoke it.

If it is laced, a warm water bath will not get synthetics off of it as they are not water solubles.
 
Acetone is extremely volatile-- meaning that it evaporates very quickly at room temperature. So if your bud had acetone on it, you could just leave it out of the bag for about half an hour, and all the acetone would evaporate.

What you're smelling is almost certainly some peculiar terpenoid particular to the strain of bud you're getting. Terpenoids are, to a limited extent, structurally similar to ketones. That is likely the origin of the sweet ketone aroma you're smelling.

The issue isn't the possibility of acetone being used, it's the possibility of denatured ingredients in the acetone which are toxic... Pretty much any acetone you buy at a retail store (ie: not online or at a beauty parlor) is going to be denatured.
