I have 6 percocets contain 5mg of oxy and 335 of ace I'm weary of using potenators because friends have told me that things like grapefruit juice and tagament will not only potenate the oxy but the acetaminophen as well. can anyone verify if this is true? i just don't want to end up cold and grey on the floor lol. thanks a bunch.

I think your friends are being a little overly cautious, you should thank them. It's nice having others who care enough about your life to worry about your overdose.

First of all, if you have a tolerance low enough to be worried over a mere 30mg, you have no business using potentiators. As long as it's the only CNS depressant in your system (the oxycodone from the percocet), you should be fine.

Once again, if you have a low tolerance, why must you take them all at once? Why not do 10mg the first day and 20mg the next, or something?

Grape fruit juice must be clear, not colored. Don't potentiate your stuff but, if you don't use the following combined:

Tagamet HB (Cimetidine)
Naproxen
Benadril
Tums
Ranitidine HCl

Nothing to worry about because grape fruit alone only partly potentiates. You don't wana get into potentiation man, it's complicated dosing involving 10+ drugs. I'm just plainly lazy to take all that crap, lol so I stick to easier stuff.

Aren't they just asking if the grapefruit juice will increase the toxicity of the acetaminophen?

Animal studies found that blood levels of acetaminophen (APAP) were increased when consumed with grapefruit juice. But since APAP has a very high bioavailability (absorption) already, they concluded that the grapefruit juice must just lengthen the elimination half-life. Basically they are suggesting the APAP just stays in the system longer. 6 Percocet 5/325's will give you a total of 1950mg of APAP. If you're just taking it once and not doing this everyday it should be fine.

ya nothing to worry about. On the Tylenol bottle it says to dose acetaminophen every 4-6 hours. It doesn't say it explicitely but the top range (6 hours) is for grapefruit and stuff like that.

Beats me why he doesnt CWE and only dose 600mg for potentiation.
