abuse potiential of tricyclic antidepressants

Beyond using them for sleep, they are pretty much worthless imo......I was prescribe 150mg of doxepin for sleep, and it worked great for it......but it also gave me nasty side effects such as heart palpitations, zombied-out feeling, and made me even more depressed.

i heard seroquel is related to some TCAs. would they have a similar effect(to seroquel)?

also, some more info on amineptine would be interesting. it acts as a SNDRI...that struck my interest. the wikipedia article says it became known for its abuse potiential due to its stimulant effects. would it feel like coke or ritalin(being a dopamine reuptake inhibitor)?

maybe amineptine is the reason TCAs are on some drug tests.

Anti depressants in any form (other than maybe Tramadol, and even that's debatable) are not euphoric/recreational. And anyone who does try to "abuse" them is a complete moron with no knowledge of what good drugs are.

There is no debate if Tramadol can get you high or not. It has affinity at the mu receptors which means that it is a drug that will always have potential for abuse. Plenty of people experience euphoria from it, although not everybody does.

^ I know it gets you high, but that doesn't make it worth while.
And if anyone who has a decent size opiate tolerance is getting into risky territory with Trams because the amount you would need to get high on it would just most likely cause a seizure.

its hard to stop posting stupid shit non-stop when you're on the computer on adderall :D and you have a bunch of stupid questions and weird experiences.

And that's why it's not recommended to post anywhere other than the lounge when you are fucked up (not that I haven't done it, but I know when to stop... sheesh.)

Amitryptiline doesn't do anything other than yawn me up and get me ready for some good rest. I wouldn't see any rec value in that but that's just my opinion.
