Personal HS story:

In my school we were taught some level of sex ed. Mostly the basics about std prevention and birth control.

In that same school I was taught that doing (any) drugs even one time would most likely kill you or cripple you for life. And that there was absolutely NO WAY to test substances.

Lies, obviously.

It's stupid. Educators could see that lying to teenagers about sex wouldn't actually keep them safe. Yet they thought lying about drugs would?
.

In mine we had no sex ed and no talk about drugs, people still fucked and did drugs of course, the most prevalent were nicotine and weed as far as I know, and even the latter landed you with the junkie title.

If you're from the US you've probably heard about the D.A.R.E program, and this video delves deeper into how the entire thing was a corrupt ball of shit. Although its intended purpose was to scare teenagers away from drugs it only made them more likely to try them. The govt did it anyway, knowingly!

I think decriminalization and proper education without stigma is the way to go, because with what I've seen and experienced myself, half the fun is the illicitness itself. And, well, sticking it up to that one teacher that's always rambling about how one hit off of a joint will instantly make you homeless or something :shruggies:

I'm not in the US but I do think our drug education was most likely modeled after DARE. There were a lot of similarities at least.

They told us that condoms were 100% ineffective which is just a crazy thing to say

Than proceeded to describe sex by taking a piece of duct tape and saying everyone stick that to your desk and pass it to the next person......When it got around like 150 kids gross desks "Would you still want this piece of tape as much as you did when I first held it up -- That is how sex works"

Thanks for that team warp the childrens minds

Oh yeah than the slideshow of the worst STD's ever contracted ( I have to presume )

That worked til I was 15 --- because there was no girl who would sleep with me till than -- only reason. Funny Thinking back on it.

They were anti-birth control too if I recall --- it was just abstinence or complete horror and ruination.
