Abstinence as your New Year's Resolution

So it's time I make a change. No more stealing/Popping pills (except maybe Xanax, I love it too much), no more coke, Ecstasy, Ketamine, or anything else aside from weed, alcohol, and psychedelics/RCs.

It's gonna be hard, especially not popping pills everyday, but this has to be done. Wish me luck =D

Damn, I said this not even 2 weeks ago, and I already blew it. :\

yay!!!!! 4 soberness and strength
ive gone 2 days as of 11 tonight
im aching all over, i can hardly move without collapsing and im starving all the time, but all ive had today is a couple of cones of weed and a botle of beer
mite end up smoking more tonight but, its a night home alone

Yeah, I'm kicking diazepam and alcohol (embarrassing dependencies). Going well so far. I'd like to drink socially, rather than compulsively, but we'll see how that goes.

Fucked things up again, dammit. I actually had a 10 day break from all psychoactives with the exception of cannabis, that ended when a buddy of mine busted out a 30 count bottle of 4 mg hydromorphone. Had 16 mg Wednesday, got through Thursday without dipping into the supply, but then today I railed 8 mg right after school 'cause they were offered at no charge. Schiesse!

Gotta crack down on the junkie inside...maybe a dose of mescaline to center my soul?

Hey there, I'm wondering, is anybody else is abstaining from a certain drug (or all drugs) as part of their New Year's Resolution?

I've resolved to lay off the purely 'feel-good' drugs like cocaine, E, opiates, etc. I'll still be using psychedelics, but more sparingly and with an end goal in mind, rather than for irresponsible hedonism. In retrospect, the last year of my life has been a big downward spiral, despite the fact that my life is perfect on paper (grades, college acceptance, scholarship opportunities, etc.). Hopefully, after a month-long break or so I'll be mostly restored physically and emotionally and be ready to grasp the rest of my life by the balls.

Maybe we could use this thread as a kind of support group to keep the abstainers on the bandwagon?

Boy! What a killjoy ;)

For me, I just continue to eliminate/lesson proven dangerous drugs, and keep or increase the less dangerous ones.

So for me, cocaine is out, mushrooms and LSD are in.
MDMA is out except for once or twice a year (mainly to maintain the "magic", or what I have left of it at least!)

I seek out functional drugs. Drugs that don't interfere with my career or other life responsibilties. Drugs that don't need a 48 hour recovery period after a binge.

I quit meth, because it became boring, repetitive and I didn't like what it was turning me into. Going well so far - barely any cravings and I have time to do exciting and stimulating things on the weekend, rather than indulge in rather depraved and obsessive behaviour.

My abstinence is going well so far - eight days, including about five social functions where drinking is pretty much "mandatory". Biggest challenge will be Australia Day (26th Jan), which is a huge drinking day and I'll likely be taking psychedelics. Will have to play by ear - I'm factoring in a possible relapse on that day :)

I'm quitting g for the most part this year - none since new year's day, and no drugs either. I was thinking of trying to quit drugs altogether, but I think that will decrease the enjoyment of my life to an extent. So only drugs for special occasions, and not every weekend.

When you start having g and meth to stop having pills because they seem like the lesser evil, but then start doing it way too often, something's not right.

Yay to an awesome 2006! I hope everyone sticks to their goals the best they can and has their best year ever :)

16 days abstinence. ^^; I'm going to report in here everyonce in a while. Everyone keep at it! :D

Gotta admit it does get tempting though, I however shall continue pressing on :D

Having all this hydromorphone readily available is making abstinence a difficult thing, but I keep it to the weekends so I guess it ain't so bad. They're about out too, which would be IMO a mixed blessing.
