abssess question

I have no idea where to put this thread as there are so many categories but here it is....my friend has an absess of some sort on her ankle and leg it is swelled pretty bad and has been for about 4 days now but ir doesnt really hurt her it is also red like up her leg its red looks almost like a sunburn from the ankle up to abouf mid calf. She said it birned a little the first day or 2 but now its pretty much just swelled. She has been taking a script of antibiotic (amoxxicillin) for about a day and a half now. I have had these kind of absesses on my hands that swelled up pretty bad but they eventually just went away on their own. So my question is do you think the amoxxicllin will work or some suggestions because she is tryinv to avoid going to the hospitaland if she does go to the hospital will they know that it is from shooting or can you say its from something else? If so what? What else causes these absesses to happen. Thank you for your time.

well first off, yes you can goto the hospital and yeah they'll know right away what it is, theres nothing you could say to make em think otherwise, but fortunately theres no reason to have to lie. they're a hospital, theyre there to treat people without prejudice. i suppose theres a chance that things may be different in different areas, but i know where i am (michigan, usa) you dont have to worry about gettin in trouble, they dont like report you to the police or nothin.

but anyway, onto the absess. first off, what was it that she was shootin?? thats the biggest factor that matters here. like with coke, usually the sore goes away that very same day. if it was pills, they can be a bitch. i missed with an oxy and that thing stayed for like 5 days. the worst ive ever had was shootin crack/vinegar. i had a lump the size of a tennis ball on my arm for over a week.

in my years of shooting, ive never had any serious problems with absesses. they have always just gone away on their own. so im sure theres nothing to worry about. people say they can get infected and yada yada, which of course is always a risk, but lets face it; we're drug addicts. just the mere fact of shootin drugs in our veins is a horrible health choice in itself, so most of us dont take the fear of gettin an infection too seriously. but if youre really worried about it, or you take your personal health more seriously than i do, then yeah it cant hurt to go get it checked out. that crack/vinegar absess i mentioned earlier, i had that still on my arm when i was admitted to the hospital (for other reasons) and i think all they did was since i was already on a saline drip, i guess that was sufficient enough and they just waited for it to go away on its own as well.

It was from h. Its gotten a little bit better i guess from what she said. I didnt see her today but it was swelled up pretty good. I know i have had my leg swell up one time to where i could barely walk for a week and my friend ended up giving me some kind of antibiotic it started with a b i cant think of it but it finally got better after like a week. Idk i think she will be ok.

yea they usually go away all on their own, just depending on what the shot was sometimes it takes a lil time. pills are the worst. one time i missed in my foot with a shot of oxy, i had a lump the size of a golfball on the top of my foot for over a week. i could barely walk or put on shoes. it was a BITCH.

go to the hospital IMMEDIATELY. I had an abcess on my ankle, it got bigger by the day until it looked like a dark maroon lump, it hurt like hell..thought it would go away...went to hospital and immediately got admitted and needed IV antibiotics, they numbed the area and popped the abcess, it was so disgusted the nurse was cutting black tissue off, and the hole was so deep in my ankle it reached almost to the other side of my anklebone, they had to pack it, and admit me for 3 days..3-5 days later if I waited they told me I would of needed an amputation, they were going to do plastic surgery when I got admitted, but luckily didn't need it...abcesses are no joke, as soon as u feel a hard lump, get it taken care of that MOMENT. it was so painful I cant even explain, the doctor digging his finger inside my ankle atleast 4inches deep of a hole in my ankle. packed it with gauze, stayed on IV antibiotics for 3 days..i was shooting up heroin and had no veins, so I went into the bathtub with hot water in MOTEL (who knows when cleaned last) wated for my veins to pop, ended up missing, and figured I just will feel it in 3 minutes as I missed before in my arm. either bacteria in the water did that, or the dope..my girlfriend at the time had a small abcess or bump but her body fought it off, she has permanent black marks from where she IVed it, leads me to believe it was bad dope..
