this stuff contains 60-75% alchohol, and gives hallucinations, so i'm gonna try it. To all those who have tried it- Is it dangerous/addictive? what is the "high" like?
also how do you prepare it to drink, or can you jsut smoke it
please dont tell me to go to erowid, etc.. My comp is fucked up

there is a special way to pour it... over ice and so on...
find any absinthe page on the internet and it will explain how to do it...
as for the hallucinatons....
if you have large amounts of money this could happen... but the mixture has to have high amounts of thujone in it
these brands are very expensive to accuire along with shipping depending where you are

the stuff with a high ammount of thujone in it is hard to come by in some places.
i think it's actually illegal in other places too.
but i remember trying some of this stuff at a friend's 18th bday. they guy said it cost him $60 for a bottle of this stuff.
but what can i say.....mmmmm mmmmm good
it had an awesome taste goin down even though it burned like hell. but the aftertaste was kinda minty.
i didn't hallucinate or anything, but i highly recommend getting a bottle just for the taste of it.
but don't do what my friend did.....5 shots in a row is a BAD idea
but what happened afterwards was funny shite though...good thing there wasn't a car parked in that spot outside the motel
LoL

If you want alot of thujone, just get some wormwood oil which is i think around 60% thujone. Its not that good though.....

Stay away from British absinthe like Hill's...very low thujone content and bad taste.
Spanish absinthe is very good -- Deva seems to be a favorite. The idea is not to do shots of this stuff like you're at a frat party. Have one or two drinks and enjoy it. Formerly, absinthe was poured with cold water over a sugar cube. This is no longer necessary because today's absinthe has usually already been sweetend. Simply drink it with a couple of ice cubes, and watch the green turn to a cloudy white. And if you have ever had Pernod, which tastes just like absinthe, you'll know how it tastes. Pernod used to have wormwood in it.
There are many online resources for info...look around.

I can speak for Hills - horrible stuff.
Yep, Spanish - and apparently Czech - is the way to go. However, those don't taste very good either. Horrible aftertaste regardless.
You're going to be disappointed. It's almost an unnoticeable "high". If a small joint shared among three people is a good stiff breeze, absinthe is a monkey waving a tissue paper at you from five feet.

i'm going to buy an "absinthe kit", which is like $10 for an oz of the herb, so i'm guessing that's cheaper than buying a bottled drink.
i need to know how to get the alchohol and thujone from the herb into water, should i just soak it in water overnight? is there any special method
thankss

Did you all know that up until the 1800's women used to carry bottles of absinthe around with them and sip it during the day for "headaches"? Beacause it wasn't proper for ladies to drink alcohol, they would "medicate" them selves in public and during the day, must have been nice :)

There is no alcohol in the herb. I think your best bet would be to soak the wormwood in a bottle of 100 proof vodka, along with whatever other herbs are in the kit.

Absinth is a very potent hallucinogen. I've got some facts about it in a book. I can't be assed to skim over all of it in here - 'thujone' is a terpenoid and it was added to the alcohol because it was thought to have anti-malarial properties at the time. The reason why people went crazy and either commited suicide or died young after habitually drinking it is a result of the extremely high alcohol content. Still this was enough to make it illegal. When people drink the stuff undiluted they indeed have an increased tendancy to go on a rampage.Phone booths, car windows, fences and peoples faces all get smashed in the incredible green blur.
