i just started iving again a couple of weeks ago... ive been using clean needles and prepping the area with alcohol and cleaning after shots and rotating sites... my friend has been shooting me up each time in this place... im sure hes never missed. i havent injected anything into this vein for a few days now and havent noticed anything. but i just went to the doctor and had my blood drawn... i just took the bandage off about 20 minutes later and theres a bulge under my skin but its not too big thats sort of to the side of the vein but pressing against it somewhat. it actually got smaller within a few minutes. im guessing this is an abscess?? any help would be appreciated as ive never had one or any kind of complication of this sort for that matter. im just confused as to how it could just pop out of nowhere right after a nurse took my blood. she also used a huge fucking needle for some reason it looked larger than 25g.

I doubt it's an abscess, probably just a little irritation from a large needle. I shot heroin with a 22g needle a handful of times (ugh) and on a few occasions, it left a bump. I would put a warm compress on it and it would go down as the day progressed.
Just watch for signs of infection: heat, swelling, tenderness. If this occurs, go back to the clinic where they mutilated you and be like "What the fuck??"

It's not. You will know when you got an abscess. I recently had to drag a friend to the hospital against his will because he had a bad abscess and the doctors said that I saved his life because the infection was so serious. About a week prior the getting it a needle broke off in his arm, I tried to find it but it had moved and I couldn't. But that according to the doctors didn't cause it. But he kept missing shots and his arm started to get red and hot to the touch. There is not really a lump but the arm does swell but it is just like any other infection, your skin is bright red and very hot and it spreads. Always go to a doctor if your skin turns red and stays that way for any extended period of time. My friend was in the hospital for 7 days and had to have 2 surgeries. The doctor said he 12 hours away from death, the infection would have reached his heart and thats it.

Sounds like a (partially) missed shot. An abscess takes a bit of time to form.

Keep an eye on it and if it gets bigger or doesn't decrease in size within a week, go see a physician.
