Opioids about to start 1st day of detox

just startin my 24th hour and feel like shit am shaking like crazy and am already startin to wonder if i can do it,i been considerin for the last few ours of going an gettin some oxys from somewhere but i do have to buy them now where as b4 i didntt, and what is the PAWS you all talk about

post acute withdrawal

dude get to a hospital, no one has said this lightly. what you are trying to do is beyond the amount of dangerous to take the chance of achieving it by yourself.

you are looking at a solid week of being unreal sick. vomitting, diahrea, cold sweats, you wont sleep at all which will bring on its own list of problems. after you get done with the physical illness you are going to experience insane amouonts of depression, anxiety, sleep will be easier but you wont get good sleep, unending bordum for weeks and most likely months

im just guessin you havent gone thru this before but this isnt something to be taken lightly.

I agree that you should go to the hospital to detox.

They can make the withdrawal a lot more comfortable, and also check out any other health problems that you may have encountered from IVing 15 80s a day. You can be referred to an out-patient rehab, and other valuable resources upon checking out.

Instead of hospital why not get some suboxone and use that for a few days. That should take care of the major w/d. Then after 7 days or so do a few days of tramadol then a few days of benzos or sleeping pills.

This way the w/d is minimal.

After this I suggest going into a facility or at least doing outpatient. I would not trust a facility to treat my physical w/d, but they are great at helping you stay clean after the physical w/d ends.

^Unlikely he can get any suboxone. But if you DO have access to that, or methadone even, I would go grab some of that instead of more Oxy. If you go to the hospital, they will help you detox with methadone or suboxone. There is no shame in admitting defeat here, bro..

GO!.. NOW !.

So you were prescribed 450 80s a month? :\

not by the same doctor and with legitament paperwork no one questions it....

the whole addiction recovery industry is a racket . it exists only because of the desperation of the addicts .

one gets addicted all by themselves and kicks by themselves .

cold turkey is the best method by far . it's simply a question of how badly the addict wants the monkey off their back . living sans monkey is worth every relapse, crushed social life, jail time, dealing with scumbag dealers, etc.

for everyone who has said to try a rehab i get that idea but i called the best rehab in sydney that specialises in this specific type of addiction and was told by them that they will not accept me because i use too much for them to be able to help me at alll

^ this is absolutely ridiculous. try to get in touch with another facitly (one that doesn't claim to be "the best").

^ I agree. Wont accept you cuz its too much? WTF?

Thats alot of fuckin oxy you've been on, no less for a decent duration. I had a 320mg habit for 3 years and cold turkey'd. The w/d's were absolutely brutal! I'd seek some help for this one. I cant imagine one being strong enough to detox from this amount. Best of luck to you and please keep us updated.

ok i think this is my 3rd day i got 3 hours sleep last night so restless its not funny and just completely drawn,i dont feel too bad now though cuz i had some oxy i only had 50mg over a few hours(10mg tabs) im not sllipping back into using just needed to take the edge off an since i was feelin ok i decided to go out since its the 1st time ive left my room in 3 days and arranged to get some bupe to help me through the rest... i am still determined to get off this shit though so hopefully i havnt ruined it by doing this...
P.S. thanx for the support i been gettin

Wow sorry gang but someone has to say it: what a loser. He's just looking for attention. He doesn't sound like he's taking it seriously, and from the very first post he's always referred to keeping a small stash on hand to help him through "the tough parts."

The whole process is tough! What i'd like to know is if he has access to so much oxy, why not just TAPER DOWN and not put yourself through hell?

And I don't buy for a second that a rehab facility told him they won't accept him because his habbit is too big!! Thats exactly the kind of person they SPECIALIZE in helping!

No, he made that up to get everyone who is telling him to go to rehab off his back.

If that's the best lie he could come up with, I truly feel sorry for him.

And seriously all we needed to hear is that after 24 hours he's already started taking pills again, so you might as well just close this thread and stop giving this guy attention. His posts are just him trying to make himself believe he is serious about quitting - he's thinking "hey, I made a post announcing I'm quitting on Bluelight, I'm halfway there!"

No, either he'll stop posting altogether and reregister with a new name to avoid the shame or he'll possibly lie about kicking it - probably both, actually.

Of course, if he really wants to quit, he'll check himself into rehab like a smart man who truly does want to rid himself of drugs. At the very least, if he insists on quitting at home, he should have his wife ration out a tapering regimen and give himself a real shot at doing it.

you may have hit the peak, usually, the physical symptoms might have diminished but the real bad craving would hit me by day 5, even though the physical symptoms were better. The most successful I have been at staying clean was 98'-2002. Like you I tried to get into an inpatient program but I had already started methadone, took 60 mg for 3 days. Kaiser wouldn't let me go inpatient and the Haight Ashbury Free medical center had a policy then of not working with you until you had been 30 days off methadone.

The Kaiser treatment guy said he would consider my case and made a follow up appointement- now I know that it has to do with he was testing my willingness.

What I did do was go to an NA meeting which is free. And I kept going to NA meetings 4 sometimes 5 times a day. I got really connected. Within 24 hrs the obsession to use was lifted. I kept going and their were alot of young people and because the new commer is the most important person- support- The shortcourse of methadone kept the symptoms tolerable without having a protracted withdrawl- 21 days I believe is to long. If your tired of reading skip to the last paragraph.

But the cornerstone was meetings- for me it was the last house on the block. I then learned about service, getting a sponsor, support group, the steps. I went to a 3-4 meetings a day 1st month, hung with recovering addicts. It was like I was reborn- I was on a pink cloud for 90 days. Iwas in this beautiful city going to meetings in diffrent parts of the Bay and everything looked beautiful and I felt reborn. Imoved to San Jose after 3 months out of necessity- had been staying with my cousin. When I moved they had the NA world convention which was awsome, but it was only 1 hour from the city I was still driving to meetings in SF and the East Bay. Began getting a support group in the south bay (san Jose). I crashed off the pink cloud and went into a deep depression by about month 4. Part of it was situational- San Jose was considered uncool, part of it was a new support group, part of it was the PAWS. I started excercized and went to 20 meetings a week the first 6 months about 50/50 south bay/ my original groups. Kept my home group in San Francisco. Basically was going to school, 1-2 meetings a day and went back to school, then I got a job and was going to 1 a day. This was the first year. I went through a few sponsors and did dervice, mostly young person committee stuff.

Then after 3.5 years I relapsed. I relapsed, I think because of 2 major reasons- I stoped after the 7th step. Service stoped being about carrying the message to the newcommer and about my own ego- hanging out with my friends. I went on a painful 6 year run and getting completely spiritually on track even though I'm not on meds that aren't Rx, my spiritual condition is far from what it was those first few years- but the beauty is every day I'm alive I get another chance- still go to meetings 4 days a week but I have Rxs to tapper. To succeed you have to change radically and the change has to be ongoing. Looking back those were the best years of my life.

But forget all this- when your well enough my best suggestion is to go to a 12 step meeting as soon as your well enough and share an SOS share. Then take it one day at a time and follow suggestions- your chances will improve remarkably, just don't use between meetings. If you can fit multiple meetings in a day- its worked for me and many when formal treatment isn't an option. If you do relapse go to meetings anyway- my position is you get hope and restoration to sanity occurs, albeit at a slower level. Just be honest- I keep too many secrets these days.

The advice people give around here almost always steers people AWAY from detox and rehab facilities so that should say a lot if nearly every respondent here is telling you to go!

It's a bit too much of the anecdotal "evidence" that supports the idea that one can just tough out a cold turkey detox at home, they'll make it to the sunny side and everything will be just fine. "I was fine and I had a XXXX mg a day habbit, so you'll be fine too. Just remember to drink water, cause that cures all."

I drank water once and I'm pretty sure it cured my leprosy.

Hows this for something thats completely made up YOUR A COMPLETE DICK, wake up to yourself y would i waste my time posting stuff on here if i was just making all this up, and you know what the best part is i dont really give a rats if you dont belive me or whatever because i know what ive done and how ive done it and if you want i cane give you the number for the detox clinic i called and u call them ask them if they will help you to come off that much oxy and when they say the same thing to you then ill laugh my ass off other than that everyone else on here has had some form of input that has been able to show different perspectives on the situation which is what i was ultimately looking for and even though it is all in people posting their comments insterad of face to face that doesnt matter because it was helping me by being able to talk about what i was going through.... so thanks to everyone else, and the reason i cant soo called taper down on the oxys GENIOUS- is because im an ADDICT so if i have any that i know are there THEN I USE THEM....hence having a problem the only difference is i no i have a problem and need help.....

Hey, I see that you're an Aussie. If you didn't know about the regional forum here is a link to it. The first two sticky threads in there have info on rehabs and maintainance prescribers if you are interested.

He's not gonna quit, too many excuses and not willing to do the one thing that will help him - check into detox.

And even if it's true that one facility refused to treat you, find another. You claim this addiction is ruining your life and its essential to your well being to quit - ok, so do whatever it takes to find a place that will take you in.

Otherwise you're doing something but it ain't quitting drugs.

It's been 4 days now, how many pills have you taken?

Going back to oxy's though they might comfort you for a few hours, is only delaying the inevitable. You're gonna go right back to shit quickly...solving your problem with what got you there in the first place is not how you're gonna get through this. You need some time, a doctor's guidance, and a good solid supply of suboxone if you realistically want to get out of this on a positive note. I mean, people go on suboxone who take a quarter of the amount you're taking. In this day, there's not need to sit at home and rattle to the point of misery. You have a better chance of seeing sobriety by getting a suboxone taper asap.

and John Burrows...you're a dick.
