Sorry if I posted in the wrong forum, I'm new here. I'm visiting by OBGYN in few hours and they need to check my thyroids, I asked for a urine test but they can only test my blood. Mind you, this is the DR that prescribes me hydros. Thankfully I'm only seeing the nurse today so my actual dr won't see for herself. I have no vein on my left arm, it's literally nonexistent/pretty sure it collapsed from IV use. They are going to want to do my right arm but there is a hard thick lump where I've been missing sometimes, and I guess there's lots of thick scar tissue on the vein. What should I tell her when she goes to draw blood? That I had an iv in at the hospital for a few days? They could easily do my hand but what would be my excuse for telling them I prefer to draw blood in my hand? I really don't wanna pay $40 to not get any hydros ever again when they realize I'm a recovering junkie. ooh maybe I could tell them I recently donated plasma and put cotton and tape over the area? Please help me out with any suggestions, excuses or ideas. Thanks.

tell them you don't want it in your arm because it's too damn scary... say like you believe in it. the nurse will prob shrug it off and go 'ok, why not...'

idk if this is very harm reduction spirit but well, good luck

Wouldn't they think it's strange that I want it in my hand now? Because wouldn't that be just as scary? in my opinion it hurts more anyway.

Your ambition to obtain more hydrocodone may now be in jeopardy for the time being.

If you have any kids that DFACS could take away, I would suggest saving your $40 by skipping the appointment.

you may think you have no veins but believe it or not they will find them; I've been shooting for years and years and every vein I THINK/THOUGHT I had had collapsed or disappeared over the years, but they still find a vein somehow, someway.

and I see my Dr. once a month and have hardly any veins left and they never questioned me; so I really doubt they would question you unless they have a reason. its just not always easy to find a vein anyway.

I too would go with simply telling them you prefer your hand, if they pry say it hurts less for some reason. I get blood drawn pretty often and I tell them I want to watch what they're doing because otherwise I feel vulnerable and out of control, which is true, despite being unusual they don't question it.
