Opioids abilify and vicodin

I noticed lately that I dont feel quite as good when I take a couple vicodin as I used to. I dont take it that often so tolerance should not be an issue. I have been taking abilify daily for the past few months and wonder if maybe that interferes with the opiates. Been reading a lot about how SSRIs interfere with taking XTC making those people take more to feel anything. I am wondering if it is the same with Abilify and opiates? Do the two counteract with each other or act in opposite ways to where I will no longer enjoy the occasional opiate? No big deal, I am just curious. Thanks for the input.
 
SSRI's will certainly effect the quality of your highs for all drugs.

I kinda know the medical and pharmacological reasons behind this, but don't really want to go into that since i've had a couple vicodin myself tonight.
 
I have been taking SSRIs for around 10 years. Never effected the vicodin in any way. Only recently has things changed when it comes to how I feel on opiates. Might be just a coincidence but I thought maybe chemically Abilify and Opiates might be competing against each other. Thanks for the response!
 
if youve been taking ssris for 10 years and recently you realize that the same amount of vicodin you used to take isnt doing the trick, im willing to bet its your tolerance..
 
Yeah, psychological your tolerance will go up, regardless how long you space out your dosage. Your mind will get more accustomed to the effects of the drug, and a little more will be needed. This is what chasing that first high is all about, and what ultimately ends up getting people in trouble, like myself. Starting taking a few vicoden once in a while - fast forward a number of years and I am a former Iv heroin addict on methadone maintenance.
 
I guess the main question was not whether I am developing a tolerance, but more if there is a competition between a medication like Abilify and Opiates. They both work with dopamine but not sure if they work against each other or not. I guess this would be for the chemists on the boards to answer :) Thanks
 
I've been taking Abilify for a few months too, and I feel my daily dose of methadone just the same as before.
