You'll know if you need to see a doctor, my last abcess [i dont give a fuk about spelling atm] was a kinda missed shot of coke/heroin, I didnt start to feel something was wrong untill about 8hrs later or so. Than it was just a sore typical miss feeling. I woke up the next day it was still a little sore and red, not very swollen, slightly but nothing compared to in a day or so. The next day it started to hurt a bit more [if I would touch the area around it it would hurt] so I stopped by my Mothers and said I missed a shot, I think I should go up to the hospital, what do you think? She said sleep on it for tonite and in the morning if its not better go to the hospital.
So I went home, woke up the next morning with a golfball size lump on the injection site, and in so much pain. If you even touched my fingertips [12-16 inchs from the injection site] I was in tremendous pain. I was freaking out about this golfball size lump that appeard overnight on the 3rd day, I knew I was fuct. So what did I do drive down to the city bought a gram of smack and shot half of it up on the ride to the hospital, knowing I wouldnt get shit. [I looked the part of a junky back than].
Once there I was in sooo much pain. Pain like I have never felt since or before than. The had to slice it open with a razor and drain it than pack it with sterile gauze and some ointment [i Believe cant quite remember about the ointment]. I heard the doc tell the nurses no narcotics for him, so instead the had to inject a local in 3 areas around the abcess with like a 23 guage needle, MOTHERFUCKER, you wuold have thought someone was dying in the room I was in. The nurse told me for a procedure like this normal a painkiller would have been administered. I had already shot thru a half gram of dope and the pain was still so fucking intense. I left the hospital with some super anti-biotics and was told to keep an eye on it. Nothing ever happened except for a permanant scar from where they sliced it open about a half inch long, of course right in the crock of my arm, so now even though I am off the needle it still looks fishy in my inner arm and you would know I shot dope if you knew anything about IV drug use. Anyways...
Point being if it starts to hurt or if you just dont feel comfortable and want it checked out go to the hospital ASAP. I felt no pain for really 2 days than out of the blue, BAM, no fever no nothing. My second abcess [wont tell the story] was much worse and had to be put on IV anti-biotics and well long story shot I got extremly lucky again. I was so far gone if I would have still stayed on the streets shooting dope I wouldnt have taken care of it I was just a big open puss-e wound, thank GOD I got arrested because it was pretty serious and I still have both arms... YEAH !!!
