Addiction AA/CA/NA - which one did you like best? Or maybe you found something else that helped you get through the nightmare that addiction is. 💜

Im just curious as to how many of you like attend AA/CA/NA, or some other form of recovery, or maybe you’re just grinning and baring it

AA - Alcoholics Anonymous
CA - Cocaine Anonymous
NA - Narcotics Anonymous

Of all the meetings I’ve gone to, there’s been many, many, many groups I knew that it was best if I just stay away from those people.

Almost 10 years ago I walked into my very first CA meeting. I was so fucking… flabbergasted? I genuinely had no fucking idea what was going on around me. People younger than me sounded brilliant! And I do mean that. Their way with words was unlike anything I’ve ever heard before. Listening to these people talk about all their troubles really allowed me to slowly bust down my own walls. It almost felt like an “I have arrived” type moment.

That kept me going in many ways.. believing I wasn’t all alone in the universe.. that something, anything, could scoop me up and hold me for a little while.

{Sidenote: My Dr at the time was amazing. I hung onto every word he said even though I had no fucking idea what his face what speaking at to me. I had no idea I was an addict/alcoholic. He went on for about I’d say 30-40 minutes explaining how addiction goes back into our foraging years.. man I need to see him again lol ANYway… he’s probably right. Who knows.}

So my dr tells me about this group and suggests my mom go with me. We say okay, anything to help get me there. That night, I walk into the room and my first genuine thought was “oh my god mom he’s such a good doctor.. he came here to support me.”

The following week, I was sitting at a different meeting. Who shows up? My doctor.
Guess it wasn’t just because I was so healthy and vibrant

Anyhow

What 12 step, big bookin, bunch of coconuts do you guys choose to stand by? lol

CA was the first I went to. Unfortunately there’s only 2 in my area. That was always my favourite.

AA was pretty cool assuming you got a good bunch of oeople. I prefer to stick with the women these day - haha here I am saying I stick by the women and I haven’t gone in almost 3 years. Ugh..

NA I’m not pleased with for so many fucking reasons. Not to mention the fact that there’s are some chapters that you have to write novels about.. it’s crazy. I’ve heard more than one person say “I do one question a year”

Uhhhh what?!?? How are you still “here”?!
