A tree called Datura

Ive tried Hawain baby woodrose before (has the same actives in it, LSA etc) and it was nice feeling not visuals or anything, lights seemed a bit brighter sort of like when shrooms are coming on except nowhere near that regards to OEV/CEVs that coems with it.

Had a little bit of Euphoria and felt very weird in teh morning after i woke up. Nex time overdid it bit a little bit and half way thru it i started to feel very sick and vomited and thought i was going to die. Lasted quite sum time:S Every time i think of it it makes me sick.

Cyanide poisoning... I know the feeling all too well

At the pharmacy they have "kwells sea sickness tabs" which contain 300ug scopolamine which is one of the alkaloids in datura.
Cause its a controlled dose you can take like 3 and it gets you pretty high and euphoric, and it also potinates opiates.

Nice little fact about the alkaloids in nightshades.
They are used to treat sarin (and similar biological threats) poisoning. Army uses it in auto injectors invade they happen to come across some.

really? i've never heard of datura containing LSA or other ergoline alkaloids.
do you have a source for this?

i concur with the above posters.

the one time i played with brugmansia, i got extremely dizzy and passed out in front of my friends.
they watched as my head bounced off a door, and when they rushed over to see if i was ok, i tried to explain to them that i was just sitting down for a moment. in fact i was sprawled out on the ground, having collapsed in a heap.

the rest of the evening was distorted and feverish; i had a vivid telephone conversation with a friend that seemed very real until i realised i was speaking without opening my mouth, that i wasn't holding a phone, and that in truth i was lying by myself in a darkened room.
the world became 2 dimensional and i lost the awareness that i was intoxicated. just delirious.
if this sounds appealing, it shouldn't!

in hindsight i was very thankful to come out the experience alive and unscathed. yes, it grows in people's gardens around the place, but so do a number of worthwhile or at least safer/less nasty drugs. we were foolish enough to grab a bunch of flowers, steep them in boiling water and consume. i'd like to think it was a learning experience, as i would never consume something in such an uninformed way again.

stay away kids!

The thing I remember about the brugs are the hallucinations. They are the most real I"ve ever experienced. With mushrooms , lsd, things are altered, things melt and change colours and shit, but I've never seen pink bunnies, or the other crap you see in movies.

But with Brugs I saw REAL hallucinations. and the auditory hallucinations were also 100% real. I can recall sitting on a hill looking into the sky and seeing LJ HOOKER FOR SALE signs.. LOL. A kid at school that died long ago walked up the hill smiling, saying hello & sat next to me. I closed my eyes looked away said "THIS ISN'T REAL" turned back & he was gone .
Auditory hallucinations were people murmering and muttering, people calling my name, my phone always ringing (and me checking it), the sound of people walking through the bush towards me (and me having to check if there were people there).

I had the advantage over my friend and others here that although the hallucinations were 100% real, I was able to keep telling myself "I"m on drugs this isn't real, this will end"

If it wasnt for hearing people walking up behind me in the darkened bush & me having to check if there was anyone there all the time I would have quite enjoyed it. Paranoia was very bad at times it's probably the closest you can come to knowing what it feels like to be schizophrenic

this stuff sounds very much like it would give you the most intense drug experience your life.....

dont think I would ever been brave enough to go anywhere near it.. thanks everyone for sharing your stories..

hey pisspotnrock,

wasnt about being brave for me,more so being young, stupid and uneducated about what we were getting ourselves in for.

Luckily sites like BL allow people to educate and inform themselves about the dangers and adverse effects of drugs like this.

Funny thing is,i still walk past this plant, not the same one that sent me to hell and back, but datura trees and think of thehaboc it cam cause..
NO FUN AT ALL MATE

alright diggity dogs
i've sampled large doses of diphenhydramine (well SAMPLED ONCE when i was younger and a lot dumber...)
you see things/people that look perfectly real, may or may not be menacing, and youhave no idea that its from the droogs/aren't sure.
I had a conversation with my brother in my room at 3am even though he was sleeping in another room (in actuality)

STEER CLEAR! 25 years ago a mate and I pepped up some average mull with dried leaf- shavings from an ancient Brugs sp. growing in my chook pen.

Mistake #1: The only 'research' we had came from The Little Golden Book of Hallucenogenic Plants which was ethno-anthropological and inexact. We hit several cones early afternoon in a paddock out the back of my place and I have no recollection of the come-up.

Mistake #2: We had no trip-sitter. There was no preparing for the all-consuming panic both of us felt once it took hold. We were both experienced with acid and shrooms but this was something else. There was no slipping in and out - as bobbydarren says, reality was wildly distorted and the hallucinations switched violently and abruptly. There was no hint of anything comforting or familiar to grab onto. Even though we were together we both felt totally alone with the experience, if that makes sense.

It was dark when the mate's missus came looking for him and found us several hours later. Both of us felt like our eyeballs were being squeezed when we got under the kitchen light and the mate was scratched and bruised from bouncing off trees and the barbed wire fence. I think I walked into the electric fence at some stage - thank fuck I never got tangled up in it.

In the wash-up, my mate has not touched anything besides bud since then. I've got a black hole in my recollection of the minutae of the event, but the impression it left was one of WARNING! DON'T FUCK WITH THIS AGAIN! It was as close to madness as anything I could imagine.

losthippy's account stirs some similar memories, particularly in regards to The Little Golden Book of Hallucinogenic Plants as, along with Castaneda's "The Teachings of Don Juan" it was our only real reference. I've mentioned some of the more ghastly Datura stories here in the past, so I'll just echo what others have said in this thread. Avoid this one if you can, it really is a poison; one of those drugs where any spiritual insight is totally swamped by negative, often long lasting effects.

Hey mate.. Lucky you or your mates didnt get 'seriously' hurt in that small town :\ how much of the tea did you have? Your dead right about sites like BL preventing curious drug users from doin stupid amounts of whatever it be, in this case, datura...

If you dont mind me askin, how old were you when you had it? This post by P_D a while back made me re-assure myself never to touch this plant while Im still breathing on this Earth...

Could not agree with PD more on this one.

I stupidly ingested datura in my teens when my parents were away on vacation. I was itching to get high on something other than the e's, mushrooms, bud and opium I had at hand. Big mistake....

Some weeks earlier, a friend from a nearby town had procured a cordial drink made from datura leaves. Apparently half a glass was good and a full glass was insane. Being a bit of a noob and wanting to try something new, I drank 100ml of this cordial concoction on my own and the rest is history...

The trip...

I remember smoking cones with friends who had died in a car crash a few months earlier. I also had tea with my grandmother, who came to the door during my trip. She had been deceased for about 1 year.

It was more real than life itself! I could not decipher reality from the trip, I only remember the beginning and I'm missing about 12hrs worth of memory from that day/night. I was found pretty much naked in the botanical gardens some 4kms from my house the following morning, in a delirious state. The police said that someone had reported me being there on their morning walk. There were no other reports of me being seen by anyone between dusk/dawn so who knows what I got up to :\

The young girl next door later told me that she came over while I was under the influence. She said I was 'talking to people who weren't there' before I walked out the back door and wasn't seen for the rest of the night.

I sure learned my lesson and suggest not trying it.

A friend of mine has been studying everything about this plant (including brugmansia), it's history of use and it's chemistry for years. I believe he is going to try vaporizing extracted tropane alkaloids some time in the future to figure out baseline doses etc. I admire his research into the history of use, how to use it and persistence but, there is no way I'd go back there or suggest that anybody try this substance.

Some say you need to build a connection with the plant before ingesting it...

Each to their own...

I ticked the datura box on my long list of drugs to try but, wish I never did.

Oh Datura

Yes, a few good friends of mine thought it would be a great idea to all do at the same time....

They smashed the house up (not mine)

They stripped down naked because the earth was on fire

They ran through the streets naked

One guy tried to crawl through someones window naked and got his head split open by a baseball bat and a bowling pin....he tried to climb through a little girls bedroom window thinking it was a hotel for demonic hookers.

He suffered permanent brain damage.

Don't do Datura.

The Cofán of the Amazon call brugmansia borracherro, literally "the thing that causes drunkeness" and it is used by shamans as part of their apprenticeship. A friend of mine that has been studying with them for 3 - 4 years says that it is a plant that only likes very few people. Said friend drinks Ayahuasca in very large doses twice a week and speaks of the plant as if it were the most terrifying thing on Earth - he won't touch it after the first experience.

"Some say you need to build a connection with the plant before ingesting it..."

Apparently this is the process for those that share an affinity with the plant, but from what I can gather, this is extremely rare, and these shamans have reputations of people not to involve oneself with.

Your friend sounds VERY dedicated Psilo 8o

From experiance, I fully concurr with everyone that says do not take this substance.
I have seen people walk nto other people's uni accomadation, while parents were visiting, and take a dump in the wardrobe, in front of said parents.
I have been at a pub, smoking imaginary ciggarette, drinking imaginary beer, , speaking in toungues to imaginary people before going outside and climbing the back fence to get to the post office 'before it shut'.
I have seen my brother get punched out fo being in tha back of a car in the carpark of a pub, because the owners of the car came out and found him in it... he thought he was hitchiking and they had picked him up...

Like others have said, its hallucinations that are more real than life...

Interestingly though, from what Hi have observed, you can observe two people on Dature talking to each other and seemingly understand the gibberish they are saying, , but to an observer they are speaking heft -handed swahili.... go figure

PISSPOT---sorry for the late reply.. I was 16 at the time, into acid alot..had a 6-7 month bender on blotter that im sure permanantly fucked me..probably tripped35-40 times in that period..but stupid, wreckless doses..

Get sheets of unknown tabs a and would double drop to test run.... People on halves would get visuals..but my mind could handle it..

Try anything oncewas the motto back then..

We actually did get somewhat run out of the town..that was first time.in other words i didnt learn from first effort.hit it again i brizzy after i spotted some familiar flowers near a train station.

We drunk about 250-300 ml,had a big grille and it was on...were fishing with just a sinker on line at local park..nearest water was about 15min drive away.. Needless to say we didnt catch anything.

Faaaark,the stupid shit ive done...

I certainly fall into that catergory, my decision was not based on bravery, just being a stupid teenager wanting to get high and being ignorant, had i had any idea what i was going to experience i would not have gone near it

As i have had no adverse effects i am glad to have experienced it but it was certainly a decision based on ignorance

whos out there?? No more datura... Seriousl,i dont know many people that have tried this shit and would do again .... Its vety hit and miss with dose...

Yet its a great day or two out if you got fuck all else to do.lol.just dial 000 on your phone, then dial connect, cwhen its on..... Im fucken hammered right now....wooolll

I think they used to give it to birthing women in the US many years ago.

My SO, when in his early teens, before he could google any info on drugs, ate some with a friend. I guess the friend found out about this plant that cen get you high and grows near and they split some of it. They were little kids. Dangerous. I feel like there should be more info on this so kids don't do this as they come up with all sorts of crazy ideas especially in groups of teens.

Lucky for him, he only got a headache and some nausea. Felt like shit for a day or so. Felt like he was levitating, so I think he we just at the threshold of the delirium. This was in central Europe.

Our ex neighbor grew them in her garden. These things are everywhere.

I can't even imagine how shitty one of these "trips" would be.

This plant has been blamed (rightly or wrongly) for psychosis and headaches just by brushing against its hairy leaves. The scent is sweetest in the early evening and people grabbing hold of it for a better smell apparently get more than they bargain for.
