A strange city

Hi everyone, i've been in Sydney since some weeks and i can't find some nice weed to smoke, i come from Europe and i've been in a lot of european cities and i never had problems to find some good green.
But all the people are drunken here and i haven't seen no one guy smoking pot in streets or in parks (kings cross,darlinghurst); is weed so much illegal in Sydney? Does someone know any suburbs/street where the situation is more relaxed?
