A Strain for anxiety

Mine didn't contain any, only noteworthy amounts of THC/CBC/CBG/CBN. Like skunk it's been used as a building block for many strains nowadays, so I'd say no. But Afghan is a big region, Robert Clarke says you can find strains with a CBD content in; Pakistan, Afghanistan, Northern-India, Turkey, ( THC/CBD ratio 1:4 or 4:1), Lebanon (THC/CBD ratio 1:1 or 1:2) and Northern-Africa.

Look for pure Indica strains or Indica dominant strains.

I also sometimes get anxiety from herb, depending on the situation and while Sativas are fun and everything I do not like smoking them and then having to go in public unlike Indicas.

Also if you start smoking more the anxiety/paranoia goes away as you get used to pot and what it does to you or you realize that herb can make you anxious but how it will quickly pass.

very true i hardly smoke anymore but when i do doesn't matter what strain i smoke i still get a little paranoid....i just relax and dont think about my problems :)

I find that indicas cause me more unpleasant effects than a heady sativa.

There's somthing about indicas that feels uneasy, it's missing the warm feeling.

medicinal strains are a lot more sedative than they are mental (thus, less 'anxiety').

To me, that sounds like you're describing a sativa.

Trust me I know what I am talking about. I dislike pure indicas because they lack the euphoric heady high, indicas don't cause me to have a warm feeling at all. It's like I have a body high but I feel the same and kinda creeped out, I just feel lazy and not enthusiastic.

I always considered "getting high" to be something that happens when I smoke a sativa. I've been smoking them since I started smoking schwag since Texas schwag is typically sativas and are decent for low grade weed.

I like sativas cause the smoke isn't dense, you don't cough as hard, the buds smoke better and are more dense than indicas typically.

Pure Sativa is better quality weed, it has more THC than pure indicas always.

Sure it can be too anxious for some people, but for me the mental effects is what I like in a high.

I guess it's because I use weed more for depression and not because I have medical problems.(pain killing ect.)

If you smoke when you have anxiety eventually you'll be smoking all day everyday to cope with it, you'll start to build a tolerance and possibly start to develop worse anxiety on weed. It's what happened to me, since then I can't smoke before classes or before gatherings where I socialize with people. There's a balance between use and abuse, once you cross the line you might find yourself with more problems.

sweet tooth- just strait chill for hours super sleepy type of high not much room for anxiety
not as far as i could tell- very mellow eat a buch and pass out high

purple kush- good for pain aswell simi clouded high feeling almost confusion

grapefruit skunk- a few hits ur b chillin for a wile, higher doses i experienced axiety

just drink chamomile tea with some ginseng, then ul be totally unstressed and wont have anxiety,at least ul be good enough to smoke some hoots into ur lunges, then ul have a really sleepy high from the chamomile and go to bed earlyer than expected.

Nope, link here to a study on the reduction of THC-induced anxiety by CBD. CBD gives a narcotic, stoning edge to the high (indica strains tend to be higher in CBD, many sativa strains have virtually none) and also appears to reduce anxiety. In fact, I believe CBD has attracted a lot of interest from the medical community, and is currently being looked at more than THC. Link to a paper on the medicinal uses of CBD here.

i saw something on BBC where they gave this female journalist a combination of THC and CBD and others and she was what one would called "typically Stoned"

then she was administered straight THC with no other cannabinoids and she was anxious, paranoid, not having a good time. basically she had all the negatives of weed side effects and none of the good feelings

so yes while THC is important dont forget the role that all the other many cannabinoids play <-- (not a response to your post yerg, just to general statement)

CPC? Maybe they are referring to CP-55940. In which case you are describing a synthetic.

As for weeds with less anxiety, I lived with an arab for a while and all he smoked was the heavy stuff. Strains from that part of the world would be a good choice. Consider northern lights or afghani strains. Hindu Kush is supposed to be a pure indica which isn't too intense. The only problem with these is that it can have the reverse effect of anxiety. That is, apathy which can spill into other parts of your life.
You may also want to consider smoking hash. I've only smoked it once, but I found that to be more mellow than anything I had tried before.

Sweet Tooth

i have a few anxiety disorders (GAD, OCD, SAD).
amphetamines are also a bit of a vice of mine.
Sweet Tooth cuts through it all. no obsessions, no anxiety and no paranoia.
the comedown is awesome and so gently puts you to sleep.

i love it and def. think it's worth checking out if you suffer from anxiety disorders or have trouble getting to sleep. i would also recommend it to every other person here.

romulan, diesel, and anything with the same parentage as mr. nice's super silver haze (the ssh, mango haze, afghani haze, and all those crosses) do more for my anxiety then the kolonopins my doctor gave me.

the rommy is a higher cbd/cbn : thc ration, the diesel has a profound effect on the mind (atleast real diesel does), and like you said, the hazes are a strong mental high.

Sativa or Indica for Anxiety?

Well I have searched all over and I am getting mixed reports. Some people say Sativa strains are better if you have anxiety.

In fact I have looked up some Sativa strains one specifically called "Blue Heaven" which is 75% Sativa, 25% Indica - and it says its a strain for people with Anxiety.

But then lots of people say Indica strains are better if you have anxiety, so I don't know what to believe.

Personally, when I smoke Kush I get masive tachycardia sometimes.

I can't smoke weed unless i'm on GHB, or benzo's or something. But I just detoxed from benzo's 6 months ago.

Anyone shed some light on this ? :\

Use a Sativa or Kafiristanica dominant strain if you want to induce anxiety or an Indica dominant for a medicating sedating high.

Different strokes for different folks though.

There is another thread on this which had some posts in it not all too long ago, so I'm going to merge this with that...by browsing through the thread I merge this with, you may get more insight on the topic since it has quite a few posts.

Some people just find cannabis anxiogenic, and can't smoke it without taking a downer at the same time. Maybe weed just isn't your thing?

There appear to be 2 problems here: First, many people don't really know the THC/CBD ratio of what they're smoking at the time they smoked it, due to sketchy dealers and general THC breakdown over time.

And second, not everyone has the same brain chemistry. It isn't necessarily true that THC causes psychedelia and anxiety, and CBD causes stoning and anti-anxiety effects. And let's not forget set and setting...

Given these challenges, I think it's probably useless to try to suggest a strain to someone based on your own experience. The best thing is to just try a few different strains and see if one of them gives consistently positive results for you.
