Not much to say here I guess other than hi.

Firstly, I understand that alter ego accounts are against site policy. I have in the past registered on here and posted a couple of times as MarrowCat. I cannot for the life of me remember the password and I have hard deleted the email account I would have registered with. If any admin wants to do anything about all this then I can be reached via email from this account. Given that my old account was hardly prolific and has long term been inactive, being a forum admin elsewhere myself I would suggest just leaving it with my promise to not fuck about any more and just keep this account.

I have suffered from Chronic Pain for 5+ years and am on various (legal) meds to try and sort it out. I really dislike my pain but I really like my meds. For anyone who does not know, Chronic Pain from any source actually rewires your nervous system, "thinking" the message of pain is not getting through, it creates more pain pathways, and more pain :(

I guess I am interested in this forum because it better represents my peer group. Many pain forums or other illness forums are full of elderly women . . . not that I am saying there is anything wrong with them, they are just not usually on my wavelength. I found the same when I was at an actual pain group in person, being on the tail end of Gen-X, pretty much the last year group who went through the entirety of school with very little internet and only one twat with a mobile phone.

Hi, Welcome to Bluelight ! !

Thanks for letting us know about MarrowCat. I'll check in with staff. I appreciate it.

I understand Chronic Pain, I deal with it daily myself in the cervical spine and my arm. Getting a nerve block next week for starters. I was not aware of how it rewires one's nervous system. I can see what you mean… how that could happen.

You indeed posted in the right place. I let new posters know that I can move their post also to another forum if there is a preference. We have a chronic pain thread and opiate thread on here as well if you search under Mega threads. You may know this. Anyways, good to have you here. :)

I so understand your fighting chronic pain! I too suffer from it although you are luckier then me because around here it is impossible to get pain meds!

Thanks all,

The rewiring of the nervous system may be a layman's term. It was however a doctor of pain medicine who told me about it. Looking at Wikipedia it mentions "Pain Wind Up Phenomenon" which might be what I am talking about. Basically the most recent research is showing that if you have repeated pain for I think it was 3 or 6 months then you might end up with increased sensitivity via some mechanism. This might be permanent. This makes Chronic Pain an illness in its own right.

Sucks you cannot get meds OhioGirl, although a quick google shows that medical Cannabis is making its way through your legislature.

Also, @ComfortablyNumb95, if that is a reference to Pulse then that is like the best 30 minutes of encore ever.
