A small reminder

You may be right, and I'm very sorry if this thread made anyone feel that way - that was not my intention. Well, at least it's good to get some statistical feedback.

Overall my impression of you on this site is that you are almost always well intentioned. That's such a good thing, especially since you happen to be a mod. Now on the other hand my intention in saying all this is to butter up a mod for some future use. Not very honorable but it's pretty practical as I've found out in life all around. That does not however mean that I don't actually like and enjoy you here at this site. Oops looks like I just did it again. I think, maybe. I guess it's both in actuality. Damn.

I don't get that mentality. Rather the other way around. I hate people who suck up.

I dunno. I think a lot of people who jerk others ego off just really appreciate them.

I like to give compliments, but I'm not so overboard that people think I'm sucking up.

I don't think CTs post was overboard either. Pretty honest tbh.

We're all family.

You should come and live in Australia, it is a like a rule that citizens reject all praise reflexively. There is always someone better than an Australian.

Do you really 'hate' people who suck up? I mean, that seems sort of extreme to me. Personally, I am all for people trying to buiild relationships in this broken, fucked up, soon-to-burn world of ours. Nothing else is as real as the connections your form with others. Though I largely dislike the company of people and would be relatively happy if most of the world vanished. :D

You can be considerate and pleasant to people without sucking up. For me, I refuse to make small talk and platitudes in my daily life as they make me uncomfortable and is boring, but I do think there is an expectation upon people to treat others in a way you would wish to be treated. You can be considerate of people whilst expressung your true opinion and not sucking up. Doing the opposite of something you dislike is immature and desctructive.

Ninae, you(r) mind is that of beauty, emodying only the best abstract and physical displays in the philosophy that is aesthetics.

That's a compliment!

Have I added you to my friends list?

I think this is the basis for a proper discussion. I really don't like when people sugar coat, or refrain from stating at all, their opinion because they don't want to offend the other party. The modern culture of "everything is offensive" annoys me a lot. I believe that opinions have to be stated clearly (and without the intent to hurt anyone) and objectively, but also the receiving end should be considerate enough not to take it to heart, and deal with it as it is - a piece of information.

It's so human to take a difference in opinion as a personal attack.

I only meant people who suck up to people in positions of power in the hope it could turn out to be of some benefit to them, like for example to a mod, or just being ungenuine.

Yea, I don't think I'll have any children. I'm kind of like my own child and have my hands full with that.

I'm not really domineering, I just don't like being told what to do. In real life I'm very mellow. I don't worry about offending people because it just doesn't happen.
