Hi so i recently discovered that when i mix 600mg tramadol with 28 mg zopiclone i get an amazing body high which slowly turns into the full on nods. i literally find my self falling asleep for like 5-10 seconds at a time and then waking up again. never done heroin but i imagine it feels similiar the result definately looks the same... Anyways i was just wondering if im coming close to dying when i do this because it does seem like it could be kind of dangerous... figured i should get some opinions before i try it again

Hi there,

Zopiclone is a CNS depressant (along with opioids, alcohol and benzos) and so if combined with an opioid there is a risk of respiratory depression which can be fatal - combining CNS depressants often has a synergistic effect, so the overall effects are greater than the sum of the two parts, and combinations are a very common cause of overdose. The zopiclone is obviously adding to your sedation and increasing your nod, which is often the goal of opioid users, and a nod itself isn't dangerous as long as you are breathing okay - but if you feel your breathing slowing down or if you feel over-sedated then please seek help immediately. While nodding itself isn't dangerous, it is about as sedated as you can be on opioids without straying into danger territory, and there is always the risk that you might tip yourself over - people can nod first then slip into respiratory depression/arrest/unconsciousness/death so it is really important to know your own limits and be careful. You're taking high doses of both drugs; what is your tolerance like? Do you really need to take so much? If it is worrying you then I strongly suggest reducing your dose.

If you are ever concerned for your safety, please seek medical help straight away. We can't tell you if you are okay or not over the net.. at the very least please get someone to sit with you next time (it doesn't sound like you are on this combo at the mo?)

Also, you shouldn't take more than 400mg tramadol/24 hrs as there is a risk of seizures. The recommended daily max is 400mg; people have seized on less than this and the risk is a very real one. People vary in their seizure threshold, but just because you've been okay with 600mg in the past doesn't mean you necessarily will be in the future.

28mg is a lot of zopiclone too..

im taking topiramate to cancel out the seizure risk and i have an extremely high tolerance to zopiclone(60 pills last about a week 2 tops) as well as tramadol from near daily use i just dont usually combine. and no ihavent noticed any troubles breathing i was just worried about the nod itself being dangerous. thanks for the quick, informative reply oh yea and no im not on it right now just 600mg of tramadol thinking about taking some zopiclone i'll probably just start low and take more until i reach a comfortable spot

^ Ahhh okay.. Personally the idea of taking an anticonvulsant to counteract the risk of seizures from a drug such as tramadol doesn't sit well with me, but I understand people do it and at least you are taking something. Personally I would keep to under 400mg, but is up to you :)

That is a high zopiclone tolerance. Do you find the effects increase in a linear way with increased dose? Do you get any side effects from taking high doses of it? It's not something I've had the opportunity to ask someone about before.. do you take it every day?

Starting low and working up sounds like a good plan. The problem is, if you become too noddy you may not notice if your breathing is slowing, so do tread carefully.

the effects definately continue to increase on zopiclone as you take more the main side effects i've noticed from taking high doses is an increase in how long the nasty metallic taste sticks around the next day (somtimes lasting up to two days after dosing with high doses), i get insanely motivated at high doses to do all sorts of random things i wouldnt normally do last night i took a good 17 pills and went a planted a garden in the forest beside my house :/ its pretty cool actually but i definately wouldnt have done it normally. after a certain point (it seems to vary as to the dosage when this occurs) you stop feeling intoxicated even though you know you are and it gets very easy to compulsively redose so this is definately a negative to taking high doses. also with higher doses (with my tolerance though it usually take like 30 pills) amnesia is likely to occur and when you get zopiclone amnesia all manner of strange things happen. i once woke up and found the toilet paper in the freezer my cell phone i found at the bottom of a hot chocolate container like a month later. i somehow managed to dye my hair and apparently called my sister and talked to her all messed up for a couple hours. soo yea... you definately have to be careful. i think i like the higher doses so much strictly for the odd ideas and motivation i get. and my script doesnt usually last long enough to take it everyday i got for a week straight sometimes. and get refills every two weeks so it is pretty consistent

Good luck. It sounds like an awful lot of a risk and planning just to try and get off on some Trammies...

I can only assume you are taking this combination due to availability, I'm not going to start suggesting other drugs as I'm not comfortable with that but these substances are not great choices for the kind of abuse you are using them for. You obviously aren't naive to this or you would be taking the Topiramate, Z drugs don't work well for me I find the tolernace rises even quicker than Benzos and the effects short lived and inferior but YMMV .

The Tramadol really does seem to cause people serious issues if abused, way beyond the value of the high, I'd keep those doses down regardless of seizure risk the WDs sound awful, according to reports from other members.

Be careful out there:)

I have heard different things about tramadol, I am not sure what the other medication is. I am currently trying to find a non opiate medication to take for pain because I am on suboxone. I have a severe abcess and my face is swollen and the pain is unbearable. I was given an antibiotic and a script for Ibruprophen which is doing nothing! I looked up the drug information on tramadol and although it is non-narcotic-non-opiate it has some pretty bad side effects such as seizures and apparently it can be addicting so I would not take it for too long, I personally know how bad it sucks to kick drugs. What type of pain are you treating? Muscle relaxers can relieve pain ( depending on the type) and I also heard of a drug called gababin or something like that, that can be helpful for nerve pain. I hope this helps. Also I wanted to post a question about my situation on what type of pain meds I can take while on Suboxone that are non-opiate but stronger than over the counter crap, but I dont know how to post a question as I am new to the site so if anyone can help me I would great;y appreciate it
