just wondering - once there's a general consensus i'll merge this with the feedback thread - if everybody knows what those little numbers after the film titles mean, in here?

obviously, *i* know, but it's not much use if you guys don't. the numbers represent the average vote that the film has received out of the possible four stars. it's been mentioned before, but it just struck me that it mightn't seem as obvious as it should. did you know before, or is this news?

do you have any suggestions as to improve it (i figure just changing it to 'rating: 0.0' might help...might start doing that), or anything?

just thought i'd ask :)

To locals it's pretty clear. Add "User Rating: ##" for the drifters, lumpies and stupidheads.

when we came up with the idea for the rating system we, of course, discussed the scale.

we settled on 4 as it was a good compromise of ease of use(4 is the default number of items in a BL poll) and usefullness (from an information point of view).

at this stage, it would probably be too much effort to go back and change it. besides, forum moderators should be posting messages, not working on worthless stuff like this :)

it's only a 5% difference in granularity - do you feel it would add that much more to the system to alter the rating scale?

If it's something that can't be changed due to the amount of effort it would take, then there is nothing wrong with 5% and the 4 stars.
