A question about titles used in letters etc.

I have a B.A. from a secular school. Then I decided to study at seminary. I studied Euclid, Mathematics, Philosophy, Law and Theology. I was awarded a doctorate. My mother and girlfriend insist on introducing me as Dr. Opiateman. No complaints there as this has helped me gain more items from my docs. Caveat emptor... Now, my question is: Is this unethical i.e. using the Dr. before my name?
 
I should add that I did feel a conflict of interest after graduation in regards to liturgical life(not Catholicism but kinda close) So, naturally I decided not to participate in that vocation. Although, I do still write poetry, translate texts etc. Anyway, kind regards blue light.
 
Considering how difficult it can be to get doctors to write for anything effective,even for those of us with legitimate issues and the medical and surgical records to prove it,I say if it helps you get the meds you need then go for it.If I could call myself doctor I would ride that train til the wheels fell off.I don't think there's anything unethical about it.Hey,at least you have enough of a conscience to care right?Besides,when you've had chronic conditions for a long time you know first-hand what's effective whereas most docs are just going by what they've read and been taught.IMHO that gives people like us a better understanding of what actually works that can't be taught,you have to have lived it to truly understand some things.
 
See. This I agree with. At one time MD's were considered quacks. Most intellectuals thought Harvard was nuts for opening a medical school in the late 1700's. Doctor in Latin means to teach. Most MD's I know are not capable of teaching arts and crafts. Plus the egotistical attitude towards opiates. Thankfully, my doctor who is actually a nurse practitioner cares about my pain and issues. My brother who holds a doctorate in English always gets called doctor and the hilarious part is; he gets insane amounts of pussy... LOL.
