Cutting to the chase, my question is: do you feel like your drug use has affected how you FEEL about relationships in the long-term?
I realize that in the short-term drugs can affect how you feel about those around you in the moment. Like how when you're actually high, Molly can make you love everyone, or meth can make you fear everyone. But have any of you noticed any change about how you view friendship, love, family, or even professional relationships, since your drug use began? Has it changed what traits, qualities, hobbies, etc. you find attractive in people? Has it changed how you view physical things, like hugs, sex, cuddling, kissing, massaging?
For those of you who are now sober or who have significantly cut back on your drug use or the amount of different drugs you use, I pose the same question. Has sobriety changed how you view, build, and keep your relationships? Has it made the physical aspects of relationships more or less enjoyable/appealing?
This isn't for a specific study. I asked someone this last night and it kind of blew his mind for a second, so I thought that maybe since it's such a complex question, it would be worth asking more people who have had more experience with drugs than I?
