Benzos A Question about alprazolam

Eh, here's my "horror story":

Benzo withdrawls are usually more mental than physical
I was a Klonopin user for 3 years straight (1.5 - 2.0 daily) before I decided gradually decrease my dose to 0 in about a month, even went cold turkey for the first 2 weeks

Seizures? nope
depression? slight

that's about it, I guess it's also because I didn't really "love" how they made me feel in the long run
they sure did feel great first thing on a morning with an empty stomach, but as the day progressed the feeling just lingered on without going away

Again, I'm talking about Klonopin, which is basically a longer acting Xanax

Probably worth to mention that I wasn't a marijuana lover at the time, that probably was a good thing

If they actually help keep you at bay and if you can stick to your said dose, it shouldn't affect your behavior too much

If you ever find yourself looking to pop 1 out of boredom, you should probably reconsider future use

Your case certainly isn't unheard of, but i think it's irresponsible to state benzo w/d (after 3 years daily use) is mostly mental. Might give someone the wrong idea about their addiction and encourage them to c/t when it's really dangerous.

You're the exception, not the rule. Just thank you genetics that you're unusually resistant to drug dependence (or at least benzo dependence).

I used to take 6mg of klonopin a day for years and years. When I decided to come down, even after tapering as much as possible, my whole body was so used to it that I had nightmare withdrawals. Seizures? Yup. Depression? I thought about commiting suicide often, to get out of the pain and because I was generally depressed. Anxious, oh hell yea. Body parts were twitching and moving uncontrollably. Headaches that make migraines seem fun. Sensitivty to light that would cause the headaches instantly. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't really eat. I felt super dysphoric. It was truly a nightmare. I tried using opiates to help, which they don't. I tried drinking cause I was so miserable and that just caused the symptoms to be worse immediately after drinking. The best way I could describe the general feeling is like having a hangover on steroids that causes you to want to kill yourself. I often would eat between 6-10mg a day sometimes more, and I would run out before my script was refilled, so I had to deal with this often. Though no experience was as bad as finally getting off for good.

Oh, and when I got off it for good after almost a decade, the involuntary body movements took around 3 months to go away.

I've had a benzo script for probably the past 6-7 months. Going from Alprazolam to Clonazepam and finally now with Diazepam.

If you are going to stick to a benzo prescription long term, then I really recommend a benzo with a longer half life in the case you DO want to taper off the drug with minimal withdrawal.

When my script runs out early (almost everytime, and I get 90x 5mg Diazepam each month, so 450mg) I don't experience any withdrawal symptoms. Guess I'm lucky.
