The story below appears in todays Guardian newspaper in the UK. For those who don't know The Guardian is a pretty liberally minded and pragmatic paper which has supported the decriminalisation of cannabis in the past. So this article is not being preached from the usual moral high ground. (I am a bit dubious though about the poor monkeys being fed MDMA for 4 days (!!!!!)...would probably send most creatures bonkers)

Expect to see this published in The Age later this week under a rather more sensational/alarmist headline.

I would be interested in seeing some data on these tests they did on the monkeys and the tests on the people . just saying it causes brain damage is too vague ... I play soccer and they say heading a soccer ball causes brain damge over a period of time so what the hell are we to think !!!!!

i think you only have to hear the average (round) football player talk to realise that heading a ball regularly does indeed give you brain damage

its such a fantastic excuse isn't it peeps??
no concrete evidence.... no scientific proof.
cmon guys, deep down we all know that it is probly doin some form of damage, so just dont kid yourselves. thats all i'm getting at.
i spose if we all do go waco when we hit 40 at least us bluelighters will know why.

Hey tranquilo do not want to get into a Aussie football code war but Sale of the Century Battle of the Football Codes has been won both times by a National Soccer League player !!!!!!
Looks like other codes are on the pills (he he he )

Hey Chill,
I think most of the English soccer players are on coke these days c.f. Robbie Fowlers 'line sniffing' goal celebrations....give 'em enough cash and that's what happens

Yeah makes you wonder about dear old Robby doesn't it ......Maybe if he gets a run during Euro 2000 will see him pull out a lollypop if he scores a goal or even better Beckham pulling out a Glowstick and saluting the crowd after scoring

Interesting stuff. I reckon it does long term adjustments to your brain. Whether these adjustments could be labelled as damage is a totally different thing. The way I see it, our physical evolution is getting hammered by dogooders and others of that ilk. Not much we can do about that until I run for independent senator next election. What a platform it would be...less laws, more drugs, and bring on the genetic engineering baby yeah!!!
So they've found lowered seratonin levels after getting monkeys wired for 4 days. Cruel bastards. Most likely it would have been mainlined too. Could the decrease in seratonin be similar to the decrease in spinal fluid? Finally, what sort of damage is caused by getting through the stressful life that those fucks demand we lead?

I agree with fat Tony on this one....anyone who has taken pills for a while, no matter how responsibly, will notice some sort of brain changes and mood adjustments. If ya havn't then I reckon ya need to get in tune with yer mind and body a bit more.
I mean it aint gonna kill ya and were all gonna die anyway, but it will affect your brain in some way!
