So every now and then I post a small trip report that had an unusual outcome and proceed with the best of my knowledge to explain what happened and why.
The story begins with my friend picking up a bunch of cubies. We gathered a group of 4 people; took a half 8th each and decided to settle in at a near by park. The trip was a very typical one and struck all the familiar chords:
30-40 minute onset
4-5 hours of tripping with visuals
2-3 hours of altered head space with minor visual anomalies
I told you that story to tell you another one. Fast forward 5 weeks and we decided to trip again. This time we gathered around 8 people and went on a 2 day camping trip at a state park. We decided to pitch the tent on the top of a mountain which was about a mile and a half hike uphill. The first day was spent lugging all our equipment back and forth from the parking area to the top of this mountain. To say it was absolutely exhausting would be an understatement. My friends and I made that trip THREE TIMES each time carrying over 50 pounds. We finally got situated and started a fire just before night fall. Dinner consisted of rice and beans cooked in a pot over the fire with a side of beef jerky.
The next day we woke up and were ready to go. We divided the shrooms up which equaled roughly, 2/3 of an 8th per person. I powdered mine up the best I could and with a shot of lemon juice, down the hatch they went. Almost instantly I had to take a shit, although I don't think this had anything to do with the ingestion, just a morning ritual. As I'm finishing up squatting behind this tree I’m already feeling it. This is a bit odd; it has only been 15 minutes gotta be some placebo effect, right? WRONG, 20 minutes and I'm full on tripping, 30 minutes and I am having some of the most intense visuals ever. This was the most bizarre trip I have ever had. By the hour mark I am staring down into the valley and honestly, if you showed me a picture of what I was seeing, and showed it to me today, I would have had no idea what it was. It was like some sort of fern patterned kaleidoscope the forest was blooming and growing in all directions. Everything was rounded and in bright colors some what reminiscent of an Avatar jungle scene. Beyond all of this I am extremely euphoric and very coherent. People have multiple translucent shells of their face overlapping them JUST like a kaleidoscope.
Any who, it goes on like this for 3 hours and then.... WHAM, back to reality. And not that, sorta tripped out emotionally drained reality. It was like nothing ever even happened; absolutely stone sober. To me this is the weirdest part. I mean, there are always SOME lingering effects. This time? Nada.
The only thing I can think of is that vigorous exercise mixed with a really meager diet made our bodies metabolize the shit out of the psilocybin. The mushrooms were the same batch, just kept in a sock drawer for 5 more weeks from the previous experience. Every one seemed to have the same experience, intense and short lived. I wonder if this could be applied to other psychedelics or intoxicants. Any one else have a similar experience?
