A Loperamide experience!

Hmmm, sounds very interesting. I always assumed that stuff like that didn't give you a buzz and was a pain to get. Do you just tell them you are trying to taper off of an opiate or what? I also wouldn't want my insurance company labeling me as a drug abuser or something.

Pretty much, thats it. I did have to do an UA. But I don't think it's that big of deal. I don't think my doc. knows as much as me, concerning subs. I had an argument of Suboxone vs. Subutex. Finally, I got it through her damn head, I knew what I was talking about.
I like you, don't want my insurance in on it. Figure I have enough problems without bringing addiction into play. Shit.

man seriously just get some oxys/hydros or go score some smack. i can say they would feel much nicer than swallowing a box of imodium with a bunch of grapefruit juice and acid reflex pills.

Just scored 8 Xanax bars Ftw! No more Immodium yayy :D But seriously the half life on loperamide is ridiculous I'm just now getting the w/d headache I get from opiates.

i hink if immodium had ANY rec value whatsoever, junkies would have been on to this a loooong ass time ago.... and your half of a carisprodol will do more than 50 boxes of loperamide... maybe it made you feel different since you took so far above the recommended dose, but it was not an opiate high

If you read my post, you would understand what I'm saying. For a junkie this wouldn't be practical or effective, and the side effects of trying to get a decent buzz with loperamide would overpower any type of buzz you would get. But with little to no tolerance and enough immodium you can get a buzz. Also, I got more of a buzz from this than 3 carisprodol. And I know what opiates feel like.. the issue isn't whether it can affect opiate receptors it's the BBB and it does cross over in very tiny amounts. Thanks.

I just kicked hydro a 200 mg a day, two year habit.

tapered down with Immodium and and had little to no W/DS

it is a godsend and a lifesaver.

unbelievable how good it works.

I agree 100%,

It's the ONLY thing that makes CT off of Oxy., well bearable.
A VERY effective med, indeed!

How much Immodium do you take to help with withdrawals? For say...after tapering off Suboxone.

I just can't say with subs.
Personally, I would transition to a short term opiate, and then come off it.

Subs just seem a little to close to Methadone, for me to attempt such. But you survived the 'done WDs, so your obviously a tough SOB:)

That being said, I don't know that they all understand just how strong it is. My sub. doc wanted me to take like 16mg/day. Thats crazy, as I only need 2mg. With subs, less is truly more.

Best

That's what I take too, 2mg. My doc wanted me on 16mg. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY TOO MUCH.

Haha Same for me.
I wonder if a lot of these docs have a clue just how strong Subs. really are. And then, once you get use to say 16mgs, you have to figure how to taper such a hellish dose.

I really think my doc. is just trying to substitute her practice with an extra, cash generating service. I feel like she could care less about my junky ass. So I have to lead her by the hand, making sure she don't fuck up and kill me, or something. Shit what a life.:)

To add my two cents, i have tried loperamide with omeprazole and some grapefruit juice. Part for kicks and part for my own personal experience knowledge. I didnt feel a damn thing for a oong time so i went to sleep . I woke up the next morning with a decent opiate buzz throughout me. Ive done real opiates many times before and can distinguish a morning high from an opiate high. It lasted an horish and faded out. Wasnt spectacular and probably not worth all the bad things that opening the bbb with omeprazole wil let into your brain.

My last dose of suboxone was on October 7th. I've been taking about 60mgs of lope a day since then (and pooping. Not a lot, but pooping just the same). My suboxone dose was fairly high (12 mgs), so you may need less. I don't feel on top of the world (counting the days until my refill on Friday), but I went on vacation with my family and had a great time, no w/ds at all.

People who write off Lope because it's OTC or because they haven't tried it are just being foolish and closed minded.

take care.

i just don't think loperamide by itself is worth it. sure, some people might feel something from it since there are genetic polymorphisms that affect the bbb. but the constipation just isn't worth it. i think most people would have to take a truck load to feel anything, and then not shit for 3 days. constipation has health risks, which can be deadly (albeit rarely).

for withdrawls there seems to be a good amount of anecdotal evidence.

for potentiation there seems to be marginal anecdotal evidence, but enough to explore.

DON'T inject it!

I use loperamide for tramadol withdrawal sometimes. Mainly just to mitigate the diarrhea, but sometimes it does seem like other symptoms of withdrawal are diminished as well, but it's still pretty uncomfortable.

Yeah, thats what I was worried about, the constipation. I'd like to use it to get off my 2mg dose of Suboxone but I don't want to feel so uncomfortable from the inability to shit.

A quick question thats a little off topic, as I said, I'm on Suboxone and sometimes I'll go up to 10 days without a bowel movement. Anyone have this (really) bad of a problem with taking opiates daily? I hope I'm not alone.

I've gone up to 5 days, and those were during my days of dosing a mere 30mg of oxy, not even daily. It seriously scares the shit out of me when I can't take a shit, pun intended. When I started using more frequently it seemed as if my body was getting used to the oxy and my bowel patterns were more normal, but I still do get those few days where I can't shit at all. I don't have much experience with sub though, just strictly talking about oxycodone.
