Do you remember back in the old days?
When wars were almost a thing of the past
Something we only know of through
Our grandparents and our history books?
Sure there's the occasional conflict
Between nations and states
But that's usually sorted in a way in itself
Without having another nation interfering
In the affairs of things.
Now it's not even safe in your own backyard anymore
There's news everyday about the spilling of blood and gore
Of innocents lost in military botches
Of lives and families ruined by terror accusations
How did we progress to this stage
When we're supposed to be civil & educated in this day and age
To know better and have learnt from lessons past
Weren't we supposed to be in some kind of peaceful existence?
We can pretend we're safe and sound
Go about our lives and businesses about town
Truth is though what's happened is the proof
This is a dangerous time, even under our own roof
We can only take measures in the hope to prevent it
But seriously though who are we kidding?
What we may do though is hope against hope
That somehow amongst this conflict nations will learn to cope
That our children and their children will see
A world that's free of conflict and all is at peace
When wars were almost a thing of the past
