A few questions on Oxy and Xanax

First, I'm confused. I read the mega thread about oxycotin and saw many people mention oxycodone. I was under the impression they're two different drugs, correct?I am currently scripted oxycodone 5's and I can take 4 at a time with a nice buzz but it wears off within an hour...any suggestions on that?
Also, I'm scripted 1 mg Xanax. I'm suppose to take 1.5 mg (how to cut those lil things is beyond me!) but I take 4-5 at a time and don't feel anything. Is it perhaps I'm expecting a different high then it gives or do I need to up the dosage?
I also forgot to mention I take 50 mgs of benadryl prior to the percs. About 20-30 mins before hand. But it still wears off very quickly. Should I just do a re-dose or wait it out and try again?

OxyContin is just a brand name. OxyContin contains oxycodone (the active ingredient).

Let's see, my guess is that they are 5/325's which means that there is 325mg of Tylenol (APAP) in the pill...If you were feeling up to it, a simple CWE would remove all the APAP for you, leaving you with Oxycodone.

As for the Xanax, if you have "bars", then those have 3 little lines on there, 1.5mg is 3 of those little pieces. Depending on how long you've been taking them, it sounds like you have a tolerance.

As for the Benadryl, try upping that to 100mgs, perhaps 45-1hr beforehand and see where it takes you.

I've done a CWE on hydro's before with a good result, perhaps I will try it with the oxy's. Thanks!

I have the 1 mg pills. I'm suppose to take a whole and half of another (which is ridiculous to me). Of course I always take more then that. I've been on this dose for a year. I don't know why the dr won't increase me to bars but I'm sure as hell going to try again when I go back. I tried valium but it always makes me sick, as in throwing up all night sick. I still have some sitting in a drawer b/c I'm afraid to try again.

I'll up the benadryl and see if that helps. Thanks for all the advice :)
 
Yep, CWE is the way to go.

Well, your Dr can only help you as long as you give him/her the proper info they need to give you the right treatment.
 
True. I keep telling him my anxiety is getting worse during the day and I feel so frustrated all the time but he says "I don't want to increase the xanax, let's try xxx drug". Ugh, it's getting more frustrating. This last time we're trying Effexor XR. Still feel anxious. Even the pharmacist said I should've been increased by now b/c tolerance rises easily with xanax.
 
Something else you could try is finding another psychiatrist, and being honest with them about why you're there.
 
I've been considering this very much lately. I don't think my psych is listening to me at all. I asked for a simple .5 mg increase and he wants to put me on 9 other meds instead! (that's not an exaggeration). I take 14 pills all together and that's ok with him, but a .5 mg increase is bad. Go figure!
 
Well you shouldn't have to put up with something if you're dissatisfied with it, I would keep this Dr until you find another that suits you, and I wish you the best!
 
A long lasting benzo might help you. I took xanax for panic attacks and klonopin for anxiety. I have since switched to valium. Xanax has such a short half life it causes anxiety in between. Talk to your dr about Klonopin or Valium. Personally I prefer valium. Good luck, nobody deserves to suffer with panic attack or anxiety. If your dr won't take you seriously find a new one!! Valium shoud not of made you sick. maybe it was another reason you got sick. If you can take xanax you can take valium.

Ocxycontin is oxycodone hydroclhoride. Oxycodone is different. Not as potent. As for the Xanax tolerance try switching benzos to something like ativan that may help you from having to up the dosage. I found when I was prescribed xanax it wore off so fast I was eating it every fifteen minutes and if I didn't I went through withdrawl. The other benzos are not as fast acting but last longer.
