A Christmas story v let's hear them

Hiya all,

I've not made a thread in a few days - getting serious withdrawal :D so it's time for some pleasant stories from you all. Please write a short stories of your favourite Christmas. Things to consider relating within your story:

- what was special about it?
- what happened?
- did someone make it special?
- what Christmas presents did you get or and receive?
- where were located; were you on holiday, at home or staying with friends/family?
- was any substances consumed n what?
- did you have christmas dinner n was it traditional turkey or something different?
- what was the weather like? Was it a proper white christmas or the usual rainy one?
- how long was it special? ie the whole Christmas period / Christmas Day / christ eve etc.
- were you wealthy, poor or in between n do you consider money to be a factor in how special Christmas was? For instance money was a factor for my Nain n Taid in that they were not very well off yet my Nain said this is what made them happy because, although she was poor in monetry terms; she was wealthy in the love n companionship of a big family n health.

Who's going to go first? ;)

PS: please share only happy n joyful stories here I want to try n get EADD into the positive spirit of Christmas since this is my first Christmas in EADD, as an EADD member n I want it to be a special one for the whole community <3 :) <3 :) <3

Can't be arsed writing a full story just now, and some of the details would be hazy anyway. One Christmas that stands out for me was when I was about 10, my sister and I came down the stairs, woke my folks up and we all went into the living room, where wll the presents used to be lying out around the mantelpiece. I seen a wee portable Toshiba TV, my first television for my own room. I remember being so excited about this being my 'main present'; however, I turn around and to my astonishment there was an Amiga 500 box!! Best Xmas ever as a wee boy.
 
I had a Dip fuelled Xmas 2 years ago…fucking nuts that stuff.

Started out by fucking up the annual boys Xmas night out. I had only sampled this stuff, small doses with a couple of beers and a zannnie.
Lovely glow with that combo so everybody was keen to try it.
Dished out pre weighed doses in the boozer but everyone was pretty drunk by this point.
Basically ended up with everyone completely wigging out in a busy city centre pub wandering about lost…standing at the bar zoning out whilst trying to order beers.

Should have really been a warning right there but continued to hammer it throughout the Xmas period.
Went to a New Year party and zoned out again…huge chunk of the night a complete mystery but came to in some burds house. Apparently walked her home as she was 5 mins round the corner and I was literally also 5 min walk from hers. Came too on her couch (nothing happened, was married at the time as well) and I just stood up, put my shoes on and left. Took me an hour to make the 5 min walk home as I didn’t recognise anything around me.

Got home lit a fag and completely zoned out again. Teenage daughter came down (missus was nightshift and due in an 1hr later) and found me. My phone had face recognition to unlock it so she had to lift my head back and try and scan my face type thing to unlock my phone. So in my dip confusion I had took that burds number and saved it under my mates name. So daughter tried phoning that mate to come and help and of course that burd answers. So she’s flipping out wondering who it is and keeps phoning till the burd blocks the number.

I don’t know any of this until I got filled in next day.Anyway she phoned my mates missus who sent him round and I came to with him slapping me in the mush and telling me to get to fucking bed cos my missus was due home shortly. Anyway long and short of it got to bed in time, escaped the wrath of my anti-drug wife but had a lot of explaining to do with my daughter over the next few days. Still a tad ashamed especially with my daughter seeing me in that nick but that was the Dip days over right there.

It was Christmas 1997. I was 7. My brother n I were so very excited because santa had come n we wanted to see n open our prezzies.

There was a mountain of presents. It was exciting. I had Kyle Minouge n Jason Donavon cassettes along with my first watch (I still have that watch to this very day). I had a barbie doll I was so excited n happy because I love ny barbie dolls n had them all lined up against the wall, no one was allowed to touch them.

We went to my Nain Peggy's for Christmas dinner; all 22 of us. It was an ace time n my Nain made lovely dinners. She worked hard looking after us n everyone would say "sit down for a minute n have a rest.' They were such good times. My Nain had chocolate gateau for afters n the grown ups had alcohol.

Cliff Richards was Christmas number one that year with Mistletoe n Wine. We loved it n we sang alongto it, all of us. My mam would laugh each year joking she should have been a nun n I'd say "What's a nun, Mam?" n she'd laugh. My mam had n still has a heart of gold n went into debt to make sure we had a magical Christmas as well as work bloody hard. My mams worked her whole life for all she's achieved. My Nain Peggy was never happiner than when we were all at her house Christmas day n fussing round us. I miss her n know she's looking over us know. My Taid Moy was a miner; a no nonsense bloke who could out-race boys on bycicles in his 60s.

I had a new barbie quilt n I fell asheep dreaming of dinosours lol.

That was my most magical Christmas n I thank God every day for those memories n hold them with me in my heart, always <3

My only actual Christmas story involves me going to a pub my dealer was DJing at on Christmas Eve when I was about sixteen or seventeen, taking advantage of the associated free drinks, falling out of my mate's car in the car park and then having an argument about mayonnaise with my Mother at about 4am and my Grandma just shaking her head at me when I came downstairs hungover Christmas morning.

Every other Christmas has been lovely, uneventful, and it seems that stuff like tinsel, baubles, lights, the smell of paraffin heaters etc just set off a sort of cosy nostalgia rather than any actual memories or stories. Wait wait no I got one, but it's not really a story so much as an experience. Probably Christmas 2009 or 10 we all went to my uncle's for Christmas, got a bit drunk, and when I got home I remembered I had a bag of mushrooms I'd not touched for ages so necked a few and got talking to some friends. Pretty soon my entire field of vision was exploding with candy-coloured fireworks and rainbows and mad shit, everything just looked so so Christmassy it was overwhelming. I distinctly remember running down the garden in my boxers and t shirt and sliding down the embankment towards the lake in the snow and just charging round like a kid. It really brought back how Christmas actually felt as a child, probably my best psychedelic experience ever. Remember running into my parents' bedroom after I'd done yamping about in the snow and grabbing my mum in a bear hug full pelt. Awwww man I wanna do that again now <3

edit: And for a non-druggy Xmas, last year we went to Wales for a week and stayed in a lovely rented house with my partner's family. It was really wonderful to see everyone and no one actually had mobile signal so we spent the entirety of the time playing board games, drinking games, telling stories and watching films and bar the odd family row or two it was brilliant. Really want to do it again, I did not miss being constantly connected to my social life, only time I think I contacted anyone outside of that house was to ring my parents on Christmas day. And it snowed, and the countryside was absolutely beautiful, and when combined with the dog was a great excuse for everyone except my partner's mum to go for a spliff =D Some of my favourite times were when I'd get up early cos the dog would be scratchin at our door and I'd go have a couple whiskies laying on the cushions in front of the window on the top floor and reading a book or playing on my DS while said dog chilled/got all excited at people walking past below.

I think you mentioned to me in privateabout it being nice to get away n have no signal on that Christmas trip. Yeah some times it's nice to go back to basics. What board games n drinking games did you play? I'm interested as it's a long time since I playedany board games but had some good times playing, I think it was called, frustration?

What are you planning this Christmas? Stay home or going anywhere different? MzSnollz has been ace for you n I love seeing the change in you since you've been together. You really are anadorable n comical pair <3

Please can others share? Lets make this forum festival, positive n fun .). Mods? How about you? Admins? (Would be nice to see you chatting with us in EADD :) ), Ali? Anyone else?

You don't have to be just from EADD - the most posts of cherriiness the best.

It's all about unity n positivity at Christmas :)

Not a story, because it might come across as a bit sad. My gran is in hospital just now, she's the 'The Last of the Mohicans', my last living Grandparent. I had all four of them right up to I was in my early 20s! For years Christmases used to be good up at my folks, it was busy, Grandfathers getting a bit pissed, giving them a sneaky snifter when the Grans weren't looking, sing songs as we'd all sit in the main sitting room which didn't have a TV (the tele being in another smaller sitting room). We'd take turns singing, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole being favourites for the oldies. My mum would put a good spread on, turkey, ham the works, although she would put a buffet on rather than a traditional sit down meal as the table wasn't big enough for everybody. We'd pull crackers just before we all tucked in, it really was a joyous occasion, full of festive cheer that you would imagine Christmas to be.

It's a shame that things don't stay like that, people get old and pass away, it happens to us all in the end. I suppose the moral of the story is enjoy the moment as much as possible as life does change, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst, but remember to appreciate those that are close to you, whether that is family, friends, partners, lovers even neighbours, because you never know when they won't be there. I think Christmas is a time to step back and remember this and take a moment to pick up the phone or pop in on someone.

Yeah, it was great really. We stuck to the classics; monopoly nearly caused a war, we had a few games of bingo, Jenga etc. Don't recall Frustration, but reminded me I need to buy Articulate or Trivial Pursuit or something for this year. Love board games, my Dad has one called Buccaneer with all these wee ships and gems and mum always used to have a go at him for cheating at it when he played against me and my sis. This year is more of the same but not in Wales, just staying at her Mum's, going out for Xmas dinner and seeing friends and stuff, always love to see her mates they're good people for the most part. She has done me a lot of good, don't think I'd still be here without her honestly!

Christmas is great really, I don't get the hate people have for it, like the sort of over done 'ohhhh fucking decorations up in november' sorts. I get people who associate it with bad memories or whatever but even if you're not religious it's cool just to read stuff like this and have a laugh and feel all festive n shit. Know what you mean MUSHET, it's a shame shit can't stay as it is with family, friends, all that. Gotta enjoy the moment <3

Let me explain, before you ask what is this demented tool (I'm referring to me :D ) well everytime FUBAR posted there's at least something laughable in i. This is normal. Booo! :)

Around 14 or 15 years ago and I was working in a car dealership as a an apprentice/stock boy.

My housemate/general wreck head partner in crime was a junior mechanic there.

The Christmas party was over and done with, bonus in hand, and the boss and 90% of the staff were on holiday. My mate and I were scheduled to clear the last few vehicles that needed servicing over a half day on Xmas eve and then knock off.

Of course, the night before, we were given a 2gram lump of crystal MDMA, and a few ounces of hash for a gift and got absolutely fucking muntered, tripping out, eyes like saucers and jaws grinding up to our eyeballs. Until 7am, when we went to work.

I kept getting stuck in corners and spacing out. Got locked into the computer screensaver for an hour. Then I went downstairs to the shop floor, to find my partner in crime curled in the foetal position shaking underneath a car on a lift which he was supposed to be changing brake pads on!

He had tripped out and thought it was falling down on him. . .

I had him go wash his face and have a cigarette and we finished the brakes and sent it out of there before heading to our apartment for an Xmas eve lunch of vodka and beans eaten off an old copy of the sun, followed by hashish and cocaine, before heading off to the parental home for the family side.
 
This must have been 1993 or so and me and the then missis had packed up the car and had left Brixton on a busy fri night before xmas heading through London to get on M1 after about 45m or so I suddenly realized that I had left my 'kit bag' at home with all my gear, works ect. Well there was no way I could do a 3 day trip without it so I had to think of a reason to go back, we were driving along Park lane when I said ' Ah no I've left your big present at home' 'don't worry' she said 'can have it when we get back'.

Well after about 15m of me pleading that it just wont be the same not being able to give the special present I had got her I turned round and drove back. It cost us about 2 hours extra driving and it was a very embarrassing on Christmas morn' when she opened her present of perfume especially as she spent 20 minutes explaining the driving back and forth to collect the 'special ' present.

Pretty sure things started to go down hill after that (the final nail in the coffin for that marriage was her coming home after her birthday night out clubbing with our mates - I left early-finding me od'd with pin in arm and drool on chest)
 
Pretty sure Mistletoe and Wine was number one in the Charts at Christmas 1988. It ended up outselling The Only Way is Up, but only after the award for best-selling single of the year had already been presented to Yazz and the Plastic Population .....
 
My favourite was the year my youngest was going through teen angst, rebellion and uni stress. He lobbed a huge raw turkey at me, missed me and I pissed myself laughing before picking it up washing it and roasting it anyway. Apparently I was pissed on champers, which he didn't approve of. He also didn't approve of the animal cruelty with the kitten who we bought a wee remote control car for and stuck bits of ham in the passenger seat. With wooden floors at the time it was hilarious and the kitten loved it.

He wore a bloody awful xmas jumper too and was a miserable git all day. He's 26 now and has turned out all right but is uber anti-drug / alcohol.. I have the suspicion he got acquainted with them at uni...and wasn't overjoyed at his mothers choice of fun.
