A Buprenorphine and EToH mystery...

I posted this in the Bupe Megathread, but it hasn't been touched.

Short story: I left my %40 EToH (Tequila) and 8mg Buprenorphine (Subutex) tincture in the fridge for 16 days. I had never left a tincture more then 8 days before consuming the bottle (500 mcg 2X daily). When I returned home and did a dropperful sublingual, as usual, it was noticeably "Dopier". I had more euphoria and sedation ( I was regretting how high I was for a few minutes- I'm doing a strict taper, not getting high). Overall, it was fantastico!

I've looked for an answer to: Why was I affected more then usual?; and I haven't found one anywhere. I can only imagine that some of the bupe metabolized into norbuprenorphine, but don't I need my metabolism to metabolise drugs? ^.^

I'd love to hear some educated (or random) guesses.

P.S. No other drugs/ psychoactive substances were used during this time period-that aren't used other time I administer sublingual Bupe. Mg and Vyvanse were taken daily.

Combination of decreasing tolerance, alccohol making the buprenorphine absorb faster, and the low dose of bupe allowing norbuprenorphine to show it's effects is probably what's going on here.

Senior, I forgot to clearly state: I've been taking the same sublingual dosed tincture for >6 months. That's why this is a mystery.

I made a new batch when I realized I left said tincture in my hometown, so as to cotinue the same dosage schedule. This isn't that simple. I implore you to return the thread to ADD, to at least get some other opinions on the matter. Thanks for your time

Sorry dude, ADD is not for these kind of subjective questions. "Feeling high" is a very very subjective effect and can be caused by a lot of various different things.

Buprenorphine is non-reactive with alcohols and does not spontaneously break down to norbuprenorphine in solution. The worst-case schenario you would expect is the buprenorphine being coverted to insoluble tannin salts from the tannins in the tequila. (similar to what happens to caffeine in black tea/coffee) But that would decrease the efficacy of the tincture, so we can rule that out.

Some other things off the top of my head - do you normally take tincture with food, or without? Did this change the day of your dosing? Blood sugar levels can greatly effect percieved effects.
How accurate is your dropper? Is it possible that you dosed more than average?
How did you prepare the tincture? Did you crush the pills?
If the tincture was stored "open" in a refrigerator it is likely the alcohol/water evaporated, concentrating the solution down.
Another possibility is that the tincture that sat for longer had dissolved more buprenorphine, this could be empirically judged by using a USP method for analysing alkaloid/buprenorphine content, but would require some chemistry skills.
Had you recently consumed any other psychoactive or non-psychoactive drugs? Antihistamines, anti-psychotics, tranquilizers, and some anti-biotics may increase blood levels of norbuprenorphine and/or make the drug feel more effective. Even caffeine could be a synergist.

I take the tincture before breakfast and late evening, 2-3 hours after I eat. Although I do take (and have been for as long as I've used the tincture) Vyvanse 50mg (now 70 as of this week,yes, irrelevant ^.^), I every 2 hours at least, (complex carbs fiber and protein, generally)-my blood sugar rarely get's rapidly high or low. The day of, I'd don't remember what I ate, but I dont't remember being hungry, so I must have eaten soon before the sub. This I've also done with no perceivable change in bupe effects.

My dropper is a typical 1ml herb tincture dropper, which I mark at 1 ml. No discrepancy in dosing here.

I prepare the tincture by adding (1) 8mg tablet generic subutex to 16 ml of tequila. I let it dissolve and then refridgerate. I need to calculate how much weight the pill adds to the liquid, because as it is I'm just taking 1 ml, which would be maybe 50-100 mcg less then my desired amount. That's a Wild guess. I'd appreciate input on this.

I shake the bottle up every time I take a dose. The bottle is tightly sealed (I'll check for any openings).

I don't take (didn't take at the time) any other drugs, and supplements include a chelated multimineral and alpha lipoic acid
