disquieted
disturbed

assimilating the atmosphere
the amtosphere of the coming aftermath

biting my bottom lip
unconciously
tapping my toe
impatiently

leaping my heart
in anticipation

a shift in direction
be it ever so slight
a blur in the corner of your eye
seeking recognition
i flale and flounce
kick it up a few notches
catch your attention

head turns
recognition
acknowledgement
10 heavy seconds
advancement

smile
breathe
compose

feign suprise
talk loudly
casually hug

with a slight smirk
introductions are made

ignorantly
you smile
knowingly
they smile back

fumbling frantically for a cigarette
fumbling frantically for words
failing miserablely at both

as the cigarette comes to life
polite conversation ensues
as the cigarette comes to an end
so does the conversation

(insert random overused farewell cliches here)

awkward hug
held on a bit
a bit too long

walk away

round a corner
out of my sight

heart settles back into place
beating resumes
breath returns

anxiety has left
sadness remains

I remember you. Good to see you posting again.

This was typically poignant and perfectly captured those meetings when you run into someone who used to mean more than an awkward hug and stilted conversation. Loved it.
