Those pictures are awesome GP . Surfing is really amazing and Im sure skydiving will be just as fun if not better. I should call my buddy today and see how hes doing :D

There's an airport up the street from my house where people skydive all the time. I would try it here but I think it would be alot better in Florida especially with my friend there. Ive known him since i was like 5 years old. He loves it down there , he used to live right around the corner from me forever. Now a days he travels all over the place sky diving. Sounds like quite the life :D

hey guys! shambles im definitely gonna check out those links, but i gotta go to school soon so i guess it'll have to wait :\ ...@charlie and gp, ive gotten to try surfing for about two summers in california and that is hard as hell!!! but wow, what a rush, especially when that wave catches u sneakin a little too far away just lands on ur head hahaha, maybe thats just me :)

It is really hard but I think it will comeback to me if I start up again. It must have been so nice surfing in Cali NueroDr :D When you wipe out it is crazy too , Ive almost drowned a couple of times when my leash snapped and swimming in huge waves will definetly get ure heart pumpin.

I'm actually planning on applying to some schools in Cali. Any suggestions for good breaks near some schools? =D

I'm thinking:
Santa Cruz
Santa Barbara
Riverside
Irvine

I surfed mostly at torrence beach b/c thats right by where i was staying, but we went to huntington to surf as well...we used to use this site when we were out there, if u dont know it u should check it out, all live surfcams of all different beaches around the world...its awesome http://www.surfline.com/surf-cams-and-reports/

But yea charlie, i remember one time the waves were so big at torrence that we couldnt even get out past them, so we decided to body surf instead (big mistake). There was an insane swell that brought in 7+ footers and i dont think ive ever felt so close to death before!! my gf was watching from the beach and me and my cuz would just disappear underwater for uncomfortable amounts of time lol.

What kinda schools are you applying to GP?

THATS AWESOME GP!!! I'm in my second semester of a philosophy of mind class, this semester were studying pain...im a neuroscience major tho, in my fourth year, so I wont really get to venture much more into philosophy. I'd love to hear your thoughts on some topics im learning about

have you read Michael Tye or Murat Aydede yet? Those are two very different philosophers but they both do GREAT work on pain.

I am developing a view of pain (and much broader other affective states) slowly. I think the best explanation will appeal to the representational level (explain pain as a representation of bodily trauma). Representations are murky though in phil mind...tread carefully when people start tossing that term around 8o

Right now I'm finishing up my MA with a thesis on neuropsychological theories of addiction (focusing on incentive salience theories).

I am just starting some Tye actually this week!! weird. Wow, you pretty much covered the whole class right now lol. We are discussing how it seems that the best explanation will also be at the representational level, and yea, representations have always been a tricky concept for me. Especially last semester when getting into 1st, 2nd, ....order representations. So jw then what r ur plans after ur PhD?

EDIT: hey swilow! good morning

I plan to teach philosophy and write essays/articles for submission to professional journals for about 30 solid years (with some travel around the world thrown in hopefully at least every other summer or so!). I'd also like to write a few philosophy books in my lifetime.

Then when I'm about 60 I'll retire and live in the mountains somewhere in a quiet cabin with a garden and my wife, close to a trout stream that I can fly fish on.

Or such is my plan...who really knows though...?

Sounds like a pretty decent plan to me, bro. :)

Mornin swilow, afternoon everyone else ( maybe?).

Sounds a great plan GS, I'm just planning on trying to stay alive a wee bit longer, if I achieve that I might gestate something more grandiose - like spending at week at the seaside in the summer %)

hey swilow, may i ask what the hell ur doing up at 5:30 am lol?! But seriously, i gotta go to school, i should prob get movin
