I suspect most of the votes for July came from people at university, who won't be able to go in May. As some have said, getting there from the US and Aus (especially) is non-trivial.

(Personally, I suspect May would be better (and certainly cheaper) but we've got to go with something that suits as many people as possible).

I have exams during that period, so I won't be able to help with arranging anything before and during that period, nor will I be around in Amsterdam during that time. Everyone in the Netherlands has to work in May, so no other Dutchmen will be able to help out a lot during that time either, let alone come to A'dam during the meeting. So May is not going to work. July or August will be the best period.
 
Whats dutchmen (and women) working in May got to have to do with the price of fish in China?.. I'm sure they work the other months too... Most people work for a living ;)
 
Yes, but not during the middle of the summer, in july and august. And as the summer holiday is the longest holiday for the most people, the largest percentage of people will have holiday for some of the same period, which is during july and august.
 
But if everyone is holidaying then there everywhere is packed to the rafters! And if no one is working then who is taking all the tourist money?

Your argument (suggestions) is flawed and only made on the basis of when YOU can make it, without consideration for the group as a whole... Why go during the middle of peak season? Harder to get a place to stay and what you can find is more expensive..
 
that's why i voted september. it's still warm, but it's closer to off peak and therefore less expensive. and all the kids are back to school.

i'd be interested to hear Psych0naut's response to this.

to be perfectly frank, everyone - we need to close this thread and make an announcement pretty soon. as i said before, getting to the Dam and spending a week there (and maybe other places) is a huge undertaking for many people, and they need to start planning for it.
 
I see I voted for June.

I cannot for the life of me imagine why. Should have gone for December or January as the best time I ever had there was in December when it's cold and postcard fucking perfect as you totter around with a grin plastered across your stoned visage . . .

Anytime is cool but, ironically, i fucking hate hordes of tourists;)

I was looking at my calendar.. and it just looked right!

What's saying there couldn't be more then one gathering??!?

One big one would be cool but is probably unlikely that everyone who wants to go could go at the set date. So maybe a few diff meetings would be better.

Already seems to be a few people up for September 19.

Who's ready to be smoked under the table? :D
