"DENVER — Proponents of marijuana have argued for years that the drug is safer than alcohol, both to individuals and society. But a ballot proposal to legalize possession of marijuana in small amounts in Colorado, likely to be on the November ballot, is putting the two intoxicants back into the same sentence, urging voters to “regulate marijuana like alcohol,” as the ballot proposition’s title puts it."

im all for this but i dont see the feds letting the shit go down... They will want to put their hand in the cookie jar like always

If you want to be fair, regulate weed UNlike alcohol, since weed is far, far safer than alcohol.
For example:
Weed: 18 years old, any amount should be legal.
Alcohol: 21 years old, only 5 drinks' worth.

(or some stupid shit like that; TBH, I believe that all drugs should be legal, and that drug education should be free and science-based, which could limit the number of deaths due to alcohol)

Legalizing other things would do as much as education to reduce alcohol related deaths methinks. If GBL wasn't schedule I in my state, you could be damned sure I wouldn't be getting drunk every night. Too paranoid to import that, street alternatives too pricey, <sigh> So I am slowly pickling my liver.

Its great to see more than just one state trying to push for this; to my knowledge Virginia is looking into the economics of it, Missouri has agreed to let it be a ballot measure, washington is doing something similar I believe. They're are probably more as well. It feels like we are inching our way towards the tipping point where enough states enact laws to legalize, legislate, or decriminalize marijuana that the government's hand will be forced; my not be this year or the next but it sure seems closer now than it has for a while.

Every post you post I swear is exactly the same as my thoughts.
The actual weed legalization has definately been increasing over the past few years, but I'm still not confident.
