Cocaine A/B extraction; My fist run though

Good afternoon all,

I am thinking of experimenting with my first A/B extraction. I have a connection to high purity cocaine, unfortunately my plug is out of powder and only has the base. I mostly snort the stuff, and i'm thinking about trying an A/B extraction. My problem is that it is a lot of work, and I read that people sometimes lose quite a bit because their acetone is not anhydrous. The first step in the A/B extraction is dissolving the base in a non polar solvent, they all seem to mention acetone. I hate Acetone, and I'm wondering if Ethanol (96% drinkable alcohol) would suffice in place of the Acetone?

I have looked all over the internet for the past half hour and couldn't find an answer. Also I would really appreciate it if you can provide me with any, and every link relevant for someone studying the A/B extraction, I have to have all the knowledge possible before i proceed with this experiment.

95% Ethanol will have water in it, that's the other 5%.

Stick to using acetone. I guess isopropanol would work too if it's 99%.

Cocaine freebase is also very soluble in hexane. You should have no problem getting acetone or hexane at a chemical supply store, my government is very nazi about this stuff and there is no problem at all buying 1L bottles of p.a. acetone or n-hexane.

Could you use naphtha (camp fuel)? It works really well as a non-polar solvent and you can pick it up from most grocery stores.

You probably could, but whats in this mixture called naphtha varies, what you should do since you are going to consume the cocaine later on is buy proper acetone or hexane, and let it evaporate properly before consuming, specially if you use hexane.
