9 day xanax binge

I went through 53.5 1mg rlam-1 xanax pills in 8 days with up to 15mg some days (stupid I know). I took 4mg yesterday and now have 3 and a half 1mg pills left how would it be best to taper with these? Since I haven't been using them long should I just drop straight down to 1.5mg or so?

Also since xanax is short acting and I got to 24 hours without anything before I took my 4mg at 2am today (soon yesterday its 23:52 in the uk right now) and only really felt anxiety, anhedonia and some general low energy/muscle aches. Would me only be getting some discomfort 24 hours in mean I'm in the clear to stop clean and throw the small amount I have left away? It being a short acting benzo I assumed if I was going to get hit hard with withdrawals they would come before 24 hours.

I guess the reason I even ask these questions and might sound a little neurotic is I have had an issue with occasional binge drinking/binge using benzos for years and found stopping could be extremely hit and miss from having seizures and audial hallucinations to just having bad anxiety and low mood for a couple of days.

I'm not sure mate to be honest, i have my own benzo issue for the foreseeable though with diaz, can you get any? with it being longer acting it would make for an easier exit plan.
Those auditory hallucinations are horific, i abruptly stopped 30mg a day and i live near a church, one sunday the bells were ringing and in my head they lasted for four days non stop.

Maybe break what you have into quarters and take a quarter when things start to get too intense.
Aftef a relativley short binge maybe things won't be bad for long, i've no experience with xanax.

I'm sure better help will be along shortly.

Good luck and take care.

Yeah for me I was hearing opera singing to the point I was looking out my window none stop thinking somoene was pranking me lol pretty strange. I cant really get anymore at this point off the street and my GP is very scared/cautious of prescribing them but got 100 10mg propanolol or so which might calm down the anxiety and blood pressure a little if it gets too bad. Might see if my GP would give me a short 3 days or so of pregabalin on Monday but not sure how likely that is in the UK and if they are any more liberal with prescribing small amounts of that than benzos.

Thanks for the reply.

I wouldn't get your hopes up of getting anything off a GP, (maybe gabapentin) but i'm not sure of the rules around that, there is a letter pinned up right in your face as you wait in the queue for reception that states, under no circumstances does this practice prescribe benzoz and lists them all, you can't miss it.

I was going to turn to the NHS for help, but there is none, even the reviews of the local drug + alcohol charity is rated 1 star for benzo treatment, i did book an appointment but swerved it as they won't offer a taper plan.
I found an online group for that service and one poster was offered fentanyl test strips when a load of moody Diazepam turned up round here, those were the pills that saw me just stop at the time.

I'm just maintaining 30mg daily now from a better source, i really need professional support, but there is none.

Again good luck my friend and take care of yourself.

Thanks again. I got help one time when I went to AaE with alcohol withdrawals and after staying in for 2 days they prescribed me a librium taper. Although that was a short term thing but maybe worth a try for you if you ever run out of diazepam temporarily because your source disappears. Same goes to you take care and good luck with your getting off these things.

Yea what a fucking struggle they are, if i had known how bad it was i would never have started, i had taken them after raves in the 90's but never just for sleep, as that's what started me off, a few nights poor sleep and a box i brought back from Thailand and here i am nearly four years later stuck in maintenance mode.

Thanks and good luck yourself.
