On heroinhelper.com (which seems like a good site btw) the author gives a rule that is supposed to prevent physical dependence.

I have developed a simple rule that will definitely keep you unaddicted. I call it the 8-72 rule:

You may use for an eight hour period in every seventy-two hour period.

There is no breaking up of the eight hour period. You can't split it up into two four hour periods, for example. Also, you can't use for eight hours at the end of one period and another eight hours at the beginning of the next. This means that after you use (for a maximum of 8 hours), you must stay clean for the 64 hours that follow it.

Do you think this really works? assuming you can stick to it, obviously.

Sounds like it would work to me. I, personally, follow the "don't use for more than 3 days" rule that, well... doesn't always work.

It seems the purpose of that idea is that if you stay clean for 72 or w/e hours between each time you use, you will have gone through the 3 day detox hell that follows stopping heroin. So in theory, it is like detoxing after every time one uses, and thus one won't develop dependence. I actually think that may be correct, but only in regards to physical dependence, I don't think/believe it will prevent psychological dependence, tolerance, and addiction though...

Yes, if one has yet to become psychically dependent on heroin, than a 72 hour break in between using (if it can be maintained, which i'm telling you from years and years of experience, can not be for very long at all) then you technically would never become psychically addicted, which means you would not experience any withdrawal symptoms if you chose not to use. However, the more times you've been strung out-gotten clean-and started again, the sooner you become psychically addicted again when you start back up. After about 10 years of using, I only have to use for two days in a row and I'm strung out again. In the beginning, I could use for five or six days in a row and be fine, as a lot of beginning users can, however the longer you stay on it and the more times you kick and get clean, the quicker you get addicted in the future. Bank on it.

"Morpheus 8:72

Thou whom useth the divine medicine with greed and ill restraint shall forever be in the devil's clasp. They who visit setaipo bound only to the third moon with understanding of the potency of consequence when ethereal boundaries are broken will foever be welcomed by the ever inviting gates of tranquility"

that is pretty fucking cool, well done on your first post.

i personally prefer to stick to the 4-20 rule if you know what i mean am i right am i right

I think that would help with the physiological addiction but not for the psychological addiction.
