I haven't seen this topic come up. To my knowledge (someone correct me please), there are two different types of 7oh powders going around.
There are yellow powders and reddish powders (I'm colorblind, sorry, looks reddish brown to me). I think these are made with two different synth routes, I'm not sure on the distinction or reason for color difference. I've never seen red powders higher than ~75-85% purity, and the yellow powders seem to be routinely 90%+. The current batch I have is yellow 99% pure.
Both yellow and red powders can come as either a very fine fluffy dusty powder, or as crunchy crystals. I've seen some impressively large crystals, they're more like moon rocks than shards, although in general it comes as a relatively fine crystal powder. I believe fluffy powder is freebase 7oh and the chunky crystal powder is a salt form, i.e. 7oh HCl
The fluffy powders seems to suffer from bioavailability issues when taken orally, which makes me think it's freebase, as salt conjugated compounds tend to absorb better in the body. The fluffy powders tends to feel a bit cleaner to me with less nausea, however they also kick in slower. Often times it feels like it takes 90-120 minutes to really peak in plasma levels.
The crystal powders always hit much much faster for me, peaks harder with slightly more euphoria, but they also tend to feel slightly "dirtier" and comes with significantly more nausea.
Most of this is just pseudo-educated speculation from me, if anyone knows more of the chemistry behind this it would be enlightening.
Also, I've only tried smoking the red crystal form, and it did not work well at all (vape temp too high, turns into black tar with little smoke). I'm curious if the people successfully smoking 7oh are using the freebase.
