75 Boston Police Officers Failed City Drug Tests

Of the 75 officers, 61 tested positive for cocaine

And here I was thinking that a cops arrogance, cockiness, and large ego was just a natural thing.

we should all infiltrate the police and work our way from inside out... at least we'd be relatively immune to prosecution for possession

Well....

Ok, I hate cops too and all that....But you gotta admit, you must feel pretty on-top-of-the-fucking-world driving around in a fast ass cop car with a fine firearm strapped to your leg and another in the trunk....Especially after snorting a gigantic line of FREE cocaine.....With an unlimited supply......I mean...come on....They must have been having fun lol.=D

does anyone read between the lines here?

Boston has a 2 strike policy. Employees do not fear sanctions with respect to drugs. Therefore they act on their basic primal instincts and explore cognitive alteration.

You ever lived 45 days without pay? I think not.

"If they test positive for any drug, officers receive a 45-day unpaid suspension and must get treatment. Once they return to duty, they are subject to random testing for three years, in addition to regular testing."

Sounds real cushy.

If you ask me, I think we should let these officers... and everyone else in the world... use drugs in their private, off duty lives. As soon as a cop, a judge, a college professor or even the kid who runs the fry-o-lator at McDonalds shows up to work high or drunk or rolling, THEN they should face the consequences... and those consequences should never include jail... ever.

Keep in mind these are only the cops they catch ;) I'm sure there are hundreds more who use all the time and don't get tested

Or are smart enough to know the half life of their drugs;)

Does anyone else notice how when they bring the k-9 out on you it seems like a FUN ass game to them? They seem like their having the time of their fucking lives! Some of them don't ever bother with it though...hmm and the k-9 officers are always got the biggest heads...I bet they so excited about the dog coming out because they think hey we might get some soft here.....

New York has zero tolerance. "If you do drugs, you are terminated." Out of FEAR of sanction, few, if any, employees engage in such action, or are very careful to evade detection.

So people do not do drugs, NOT BECAUSE ITS WRONG, but out of FEAR of what society will do to them if they do.

Can we possibly regress more?

THE WOOD, great insight!!!

I dont know if youve ever been faced with drug testing, but its not exactly hard to overcome. SWIM has nailed grams of white and taken a test within 72 hours and passed clean. 45 days without pay sucks, prolly leads to eating ramen noodles and dogfood, and its not like you are going to collect unemployment for that. However, it is not going to ruin your career, and you wont be forced to bear a blacklisted "scarlet letter" for the rest of your life. As long as you dont go on crazy binges (which i hope no cops do! i dont want some fucker crashing on speed and crack with a gun on his belt), its not exactly a grevious task to disguise your sample/evade a test.

45 days? They could confiscate some unlucky bastard's stash and sell it to live on for that amount of time. Prolly did.

Jesus people, this isn't anything new.. Sure there are plenty of crooked cops all over. When I was in elementary school, a local D.A.R.E. officer that visited our school got busted/fired for cocaine (I won the DARE medal for my class and still have it to this day). But not all law enforcement personnel are like that; in fact I would venture to guess that the majority of police are not drug users at all. Of course a percentage of these people are going to abuse their position of power.

Yeah it's called being in jail. An experience most people would trade for 45 days of couch surfing and daytime TV.

There seems to be a stereotype that all of em that use drugs are crooked. let me state right now that i hate anyone who ever sends a man to prison...but I would imagine a majority of the drug using cops are the best cops around, they know the truth about drugs and decide to use them just like the rest of us the thing is they must maintain a fake hate for drugs and drug-using "criminals". They are more than likely the more intelligent cops around, seing as a dumb cop would most likely have accepted the anti-drug propoganda. Does it mean they are good people? no...just more intelligent on average and most likely more sympethetic to drug users. IDK about you, but id rather some cokehead cop take my stash and let me go than take my stash and charge me unless it was like a key and fronted to me...and even then id probably rather be let go and just leave town..

haha cops stealing money is that an oxymoron. i guess not because they didnt mind writing 3,000 on the search warrant papers when there really was 9,000 in my mans house. whatever tho he walked away with a gram charge on cocaine when he was really holding so much rizzy it would make kurt cobain raise from the dead, im not a fan either. anyway im pretty hammed so peace up D town down.
